The United Nations Humanitarian Office said that hundreds of Sudanese civilians and unarmed fighters might have been executed while the “Rapid Support” forces took control over the city of al-Fāšir.

The United Nations Human Rights Office stated on Friday that “hundreds of Sudanese civilians and unarmed fighters might have been executed while the paramilitary forces took control over the city of al-Fāšir that had been under siege for a long time”.
On Sunday the “Rapid Support” forces took control over the city of al-Fāšir, the last stronghold of the Sudanese army in the region of Dārfūr in the western part of the country. This came after being under siege lasting for 18 months.
Spokesman of the United Nations Human Rights Office Sayf Magangou in a press conference in Geneva on Friday describing the testimonies of executions stated: “We estimate the number of killed among the civilians, those who became unable to fight during the attack of the Rapid Support Forces against the city and the roads leading out from there, but also during the days following the takeover of the city might have reached to hundreds”.
He added that “tens of thousands of people ran away from the city amidst the confrontations and some of the testimonies about the terrible events in al-Fāšir came from those refugees who had to walk 3 or 4 days to other areas”.
He pointed out that “the office obtained testimonies from the aid workers reporting that at least 25 women suffered gang rape when the fighters of the Rapid Support Forces entered the refugee shelter in the vicinity of the university”.
The spokesman of the United Nations Office explained that “eyewitnesses confirmed that members of the Rapid Support Forces chose women and girls and raped them under the threat of weapons, which forced the remaining refugees with a number of at least 100 families to leave the place amidst firing and the intimidation of the elderly residents”.

قال مكتب الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان، اليوم الجمعة، إن “مئات المدنيين السودانيين. والمقاتلين العزل ربما قُتلوا خلال سيطرة قوات شبه عسكرية سودانية على مدينة الفاشر المحاصرة منذ فترة طويلة”.
واستولت قوات “الدعم السريع “على الفاشر، وهي آخر معاقل الجيش السوداني. في منطقة دارفور بغرب البلاد، يوم الأحد، وذلك بعد أن فرضت حصاراً عليها استمر 18 شهراً.
وقال المتحدث باسم مكتب الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان، سيف ماغانغو، في. مؤتمر صحافي في جنيف اليوم الجمعة، واصفاً شهادات عن عمليات إعدام جرت: “نقدّر أن عدد القتلى من المدنيين وأولئك الذين أصبحوا عاجزين عن القتال. خلال هجوم قوات الدعم السريع على المدينة وطرق خروجها، وكذلك في الأيام التي. أعقبت الاستيلاء عليها، قد يصل إلى مئات” .
وأضاف أن “عشرات الآلاف من الأشخاص فروا من المدينة وسط الاضطرابات، وبعض. الشهادات عن فظائع الفاشر جاءت من الناجين الذين اضطروا إلى السير لمدة 3 أو 4 أيام إلى مناطق أخرى”.
ولفت إلى أن “المكتب تلقى شهادات من عمال الإغاثة تفيد بأن ما لا يقل. عن 25 امرأة تعرضن للاغتصاب الجماعي. عندما دخل مقاتلو قوات الدعم السريع ملجأ للنازحين بالقرب من الجامعة”.
وأوضح المتحدث باسم المكتب الأممي أن “شهود عيان يؤكدون أن عناصر قوات الدعم. السريع قاموا باختيار النساء والفتيات واغتصابهن تحت تهديد السلاح، ما أجبر النازحين المتبقين البالغ. عددهم حوالى 100 أسرة على مغادرة الموقع وسط إطلاق النار وترهيب السكان المسنين
