Tunisian President Qays Sa‘īd tasks Nağlā’ Būdan to form the new government and press sources say that “for the first time in the history of the country a woman was appointed for this position”.
Tunisian President Qays Sa‘īd on Wednesday appointed Nağlā’ Būdan to form the new government after deposing the previous one, Hišām al-Mašīšī and suspending the work of the parliament taking over the powers more then two months ago.
Media sources said that “for the first time in the history of Tunisia a woman was appointed to this position”.
In a statement the president’s office said: “Enacting the rulings of presidential decree 117 of year 2021 about the extraordinary measures, especially its 16 paragraph, President Qays Sa‘īd today, on 29 September appointed Lady Nağlā’ Būdan Ḥaram Ramaḍān to form a government and to do that with the upmost urgency”.
On his behalf Sa‘īd said during a meeting with Nağlā’ Būdan in the Carthage Palace: “I decided to appoint you to form a new government and this shall be the first time in the history of Tunisia… for the first time a women will take over the premiership until the end of the extraordinary measures, which Tunisia lives in”.
Sa‘īd added that “We will work together in the future in the administration and strong devotion to eradicate the corruption and the chaos, which took over the state in many institutions. There are virtuous men and women working day and night, but there are also those, who shackle them working of the failing the state”.
Who is Nağlā’ Būdan?
Nağlā’ Būdan was born in 1958 and she is from the al-Qayrawān province. She is an higher education professor in the National College for Engineers in Tunis, specialized on geology. She also works currently on a plan to implement a World Bank’s project with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
She was appointed as director tasked with performance in the Ministry of Higher Education in 2011.
She also worked in the position of work coordination in the same ministry and was tasked with the duties of the staff of the former Minister of Higher Education, Šihāb Būdan in 2015.

الرئيس التونسي، قيس سعيّد، يكلّف نجلاء بودن لتشكيل حكومة جديدة، و مصادر إعلامية تقول إنّه “للمرة الأولى في تاريخ البلاد يتم تعيين امرأة في هذاالمنصب”.
كلّف الرئيس التونسي، قيس سعيّد، اليوم الأربعاء، نجلاء بودن بتشكيل حكومة جديدة إثر إقالته رئيس الوزراء السابق، هشام المشيشي، وتعليقه أعمال البرلمان وتوليه السلطات منذ أكثر من شهرين.
وقالت مصادر إعلامية إنّه “للمرة الأولى في تاريخ تونس يتم تعيين امرأة في هذا المنصب”.
وقالت الرئاسة في بيانٍ لها: “عملاً بأحكام الأمر الرئاسي عدد 117 لسنة 2021 المؤرخ في 22 أيلول/سبتمبر 2021 والمتعلق بتدابير استثنائية وخاصّة على الفصل 16 منه، كلّف رئيس الجمهورية قيس سعيّد، اليوم الأربعاء 29 أيلول/سبتمبر، السيدة نجلاء بودن حرم رمضان بتشكيل حكومة، على أن يتم ذلك في أقرب الآجال”.
بدوره، قال سعيّد خلال لقائه بنجلاء بودن في قصر قرطاج: “قررت تكليفكم بتشكيل حكومة جديدة وسيكون هذا لأول مرة في تاريخ تونس.. لأول مرة امرأة تتولى رئاسة الحكومة حتى نهاية التدابير الاستثنائية التي تعيشها تونس”.
وأضاف سعيّد أنّه “سنعمل معاً في المستقبل بإرادة وعزيمة ثابتة للقضاء على الفساد والفوضى التي عمّت الدولة في عديد المؤسسات.. هناك صادقون وصادقات يعملون ليلاً نهاراً ولكن هناك أيضاً من هم على نقيض هؤلاء يعملون على إسقاط الدولة”.
من هي نجلاء بودن؟
نجلاء بودن، من مواليد 1958، وهي من ولاية القيروان، أستاذة تعليم عالي في المدرسة الوطنية للمهندسين بتونس، متخصصة في علوم الجيولوجيا، كما تشغل حالياً خطّة مكلفة بتنفيذ برامج البنك الدولي بوزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي.
وتمّ تعيينها مديرة عامة مكلفة بالجودة بوزارة التعليم العالي سنة 2011.
كما شغلت منصب رئيسة وحدة تصرف حسب الأهداف بالوزارة ذاتها، وكُلّفت بمهمة بديوان وزير التعليم العالي السابق شهاب بودن سنة 2015.
