Syrian President Baššār al-Asad sends a letter of condolences to the family of the Arabist thinker and struggler Anīs an-Naqqāš and confirms that he will remain one of the honorable symbols, which will be eternal in the Arabic thinking so that the future generations can take on from him what it means loyalty to the land.
Today, on Tuesday Syrian President Baššār al-Asan sent a letter of condolences to the family of the Arabist thinker and struggler Anīs an-Naqqāš, who passed away yesterday in Damascus.
In the letter, al-Asad wrote: “We are filled with the deepest sorrow and pain upon the passing of the Arabist thinker and struggler Anīs an-Naqqāš. We give you and all the resistance and freedom strugglers the warmest condolences from the hearth asking God Almighty to take him to his boundless grace and make Heaven his home, while also giving you peace and strength”.
In the letter, al-Asad added: “The one we lost spent his life resisting against the occupation and its followers in our region defending the Arabic cause with his body and thoughts. He was and will remain always one of the noble symbols, which will be eternal in the memory of the Arabs, so that the next generation can take on from him what it means being loyal to the land, defending it, and struggling for a rightful cause”.
He continued: “Just like Damascus took him into arms in his last days, so shall the Syrian people keep his presence forever in its memory”.
It is scheduled that the body of Lebanese Arab struggler Anīs an-Naqqāš will be presented for morning tomorrow, on Wednesday at the tomb of his family in Beirut, after his body arrived from Syria yesterday night to the Lebanese capital.
The last farewell from the deceased in Syria was at the as-Sayyida Zaynab monument in Damascus in the presence of his family.
On the other hand, Syrian Foreign Minister Fayṣal al-Miqdād said that the deceased an-Naqqāš was known for his stance with the resistance and his firm principles.
Al-Miqdād added: “an-Naqqāš expressed his emotions with bravery and even within the most difficult circumstances for the unity of the Arab homeland”.
The wife of the deceased, Batūl an-Naqqāš recounted in her words to al-Mayadeen channel yesterday the last seconds of the deceased and confirmed his deepest devotion for Palestine and all corners of the Arab world and said: “His heart was with Palestine”
It should be mentioned that the deceased an-Naqqāš got attached to the Palestinian cause early on. He was only 17 years old, when he joined the Palestinian Liberation Movement, after the 1967 tragedy and total occupation of Jerusalem.
An-Naqqāš was speaking about himself and his political interests, which started before June [1967], but the defeat made him directly involved with politics and he used to say that the announcements of Fataḥ strongly motivated him.
The Lebanese Arab struggler Anīs an-Naqqāš passed away Monday morning after he got contracted with the Coronavirus. An-Naqqāš was entered to the special care ward in one of the hospitals of Damascus a few days before.

بعث الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد، اليوم الثلاثاء، برقية تعزية إلى أسرة المفكر والمناضل العروبي أنيس النقاش الذي وافته المنية في دمشق أمس الإثنين
وفي برقيته قال الأسد: “ببالغ الحزن والأسى تلقينا نبأ وفاة المفكر والمناضل العروبي أنيس النقاش، ونتقدم إليكم وإلى جميع المناضلين والمقاومين الأحرار بأحر التعازي القلبية سائلين الله العلي القدير أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته ويسكنه فسيح جنانه وأن يلهمكم الصبر والسلوان
الأسد أضاف في برقيته: “لقد أمضى الفقيد حياته مقاوماً ضد الاحتلال واتباعه في منطقتنا ومدافعاً عن القضايا العربية بجسده وبفكره، فكان وسيبقى دائماً أحد الرموز المشرفة التي ستخلد في الذاكرة العربية لتستلهم منها الأجيال معنى التمسك بالأرض والدفاع عنها والنضال من أجل القضايا المحقة
وتابع “كما احتضنته دمشق في أيامه الأخيرة، فإن الشعب السوري سيحتضن في وجدانه على الدوام ذكراه العطرة
ومن المقرر أن يوارى جثمان المناضل اللبناني العربي أنيس النقاش الثرى غداً الأربعاء في مقبرة العائلة في بيروت، بعدما وصل جثمانه من سوريا ليل أمس الإثنين إلى العاصمة اللبنانية
الوداع الأخير لجثمان الراحل في سوريا كان قد جرى في مقام السيدة زينب في دمشق بحضور عائلته
من جهته قال وزير الخارجية السوري فيصل المقداد، إن الراحل النقاش عرف بمواقفه المقاومة ومبادئه الثابتة
وأضاف المقداد، أن “النقاش عبّر بشجاعة وفي أحلك الظروف عن المشاريع التي تستهدف وحدة بلداننا العربية
وكانت زوجة الراحل بتول النقاش روت في حديث للميادين أمس الإثنين اللحظات الأخيرة للراحل، وأكدت على عمق صلته بفلسطين وبأنحاء البلاد العربية، وقالت إن “قلبه كان على فلسطين
ويذكر أن الراحل النقاش تعلّق بالقضية الفلسطينية مبكراً، والتحق بحركة التحرير الفلسطينية وهو في السابعة عشر من عمره، من بعد نكسة 67 واحتلال القدس كاملة
وكان النقاش يتحدث عن نفسه واهتماماته السياسية التي بدأت قبل حزيران/يونيو، لكن الهزيمة نقلته إلى الالتزام السياسي المباشر، وكان يقول إن بيانات فتح كانت تشده إليها بقوة
وتوفي صباح أمس الإثنين المناضل اللبناني العربي أنيس النقاش، بعد إصابته بفيروس كورونا. وكان النقاش دخل العناية المشددة في أحد مستشفيات دمشق قبل أيام
