The “Syrian Opposition Platform” reports on sources saying that Turkey has stopped the financing of the “ar-Raḥmān Brigade” in Syria “after the commanders of the brigade evaded writing lists with names of combatants to be sent to fight on the side of the Unity [al-Wifāq] Government”.

Today, this Friday Turkey ceased to finance “ar-Raḥmān Brigade” the group, and “most of its armed men from Eastern al-Ġūṭa to the province of Ḥimṣ, after it refused to send its fighters to Libya”, according to what the Syrian opposition platform mentioned.

The “Syrian Platform” cited sources it calls “trustworthy” saying the finance of the “The Brigade” has been stopped, which happened “after the commanders of the brigade evaded writing lists with names of combatants to be sent to fight on the side of the National Unity [al-Wifāq] Government in Libya by Turkish orders”, according to the platform.

On 24 December 2019 Turkey asked from the Syrian fighting groups belonging to it to deliver fighters to be transported to Libya. The first batch comprised of 60 armed men from all the groups.

The information on 25 December 2019 has already talked about financial allowances given by Ankara to the fighters of the armed groups belonging to it is Syria to be transported to Libya, but the armed men did not wish to adhere to this step. This was after the al-Mayadeen revealed a Turkish approach to retrieve 200 fighters from the groups east of the Euphrates in Syria to be transported to Libya.

Military sources to the Syrian opposition “Zamān al-Waṣl” newspaper have confirmed that the Turkish side presented an offer to the groups known as “National Army” supported by Turkey and operating in the eastern and northern areas of Aleppo [province], in it to send fighters to support the Libyan Unity Government against the forces of Major-General Halīfa Ḥaftar. And this caused questions by Syrian activists about the stances of Turkey and the Turkish Army.

Special sources of the “al-Mayadeen net” have also revealed on 30 December 2019 that there was a meeting is Libya between senior officers in the Turkish Army and the Unity Government, during which an agreement was reached that Turkey will deliver support for the Unity Government by the National Army supported by it and spread across Northern Syria.
