The Lebanese Army Command issued a statement commenting in it a published video, which shows a soldier opening fire towards the protesters at aṭ-Ṭayūna.
The Lebanese army command on Saturday issued a statement about a video published on social media showing a soldier targeting protesters at aṭ-Ṭayūna area in Beirut last Thursday. That happened during their protest against the politicized nature of the Beirut port blast case.
It stated in its statement: “Through social media a video was published showing a soldier opening fire towards the protesters during their clashes, which erupted two days ago in aṭ-Ṭayūna district. The army command wish to explain that the soldier opening fire is going through investigations under the oversight of an inspecting judge.
Today a video was published through social media taken by a security camera showing a soldier in the Lebanese army, who is opening fire upon a group of those taking part in the peaceful protest, which happened two days ago in aṭ-Ṭayūna district.
Yesterday, on Friday the Lebanese people mourned seven protesters, who were slain in an ambush after snipers opened fire from rooftops where they barricaded themselves upon the innocent peaceful protesters in aṭ-Ṭayūna district in the capital Beirut. They were protesting against the politicized nature of the port case.
A source on the Lebanese army confirmed the arrest of 19 people, a number of them admitting to to preparing for the events at aṭ-Ṭayūna. At the same time the leaderships of the “Amal” Movement and the Ḥizb Allah accused the Lebanese Forces for the armed aggression against the protesters.
On its on behalf Lebanese President Lieutenant General Mīšāl ‘Awn in his speech last Thursday criticized the “language of weapons” and swore to “account those responsible and this who prepared the killing”.
Former Prime Ministers also renounced the heinous events at aṭ-Ṭayūna, expressing “their shock, their deepest regrets and their full condemnation for the renounced events, which caused a number of victims”.

قيادة الجيش اللبناني تصدر بياناً تعلّق فيه على مقطع الفيديو المنتشر والذي يظهر عسكرياً يُطلق النار باتجاه المتظاهرين في الطيونة
أصدرت قيادة الجيش اللبناني اليوم السبت بياناً حول فيديو انتشر على مواقع التواصل يظهر عسكرياً يستهدف متظاهرين في منطقة الطيونة في بيروت الخميس الفائت، وذلك خلال احتجاجهم على تسييس ملف قضية مرفأ بيروت
وقالت في بيانها: “انتشرت عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي مقاطع فيديو تُظهر عسكرياً يُطلق النار باتجاه المتظاهرين خلال المواجهات التي اندلعت قبل يومين في منطقة الطيونة. يهمُ قيادة الجيش أن توضح أنّ العسكري مُطلق النار يخضع للتحقيق بإشراف القضاء المختص
وانتشر عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي اليوم مقطع فيديو التقطته إحدى كاميرات المراقبة يظهر عسكرياً في الجيش اللبناني وهو يقوم بإطلاق النار على مجموعة من المشاركين في التظاهرة السلمية التي مرّت في منطقة الطيونة منذ يومين
ويوم أمس الجمعة، شيّع اللبنانيون، الشهداء السبعة الذين ارتقَوا في كمين، في إثر إطلاق قنّاصين النار من على أسطح المباني، التي تحصَّنوا فيها، على محتجّين سِلميين عُزّل في منطقة الطيونة في العاصمة بيروت،احتجاجاً على تسييس ملف قضية المرفأ
وأكدّ مصدر الجيش اللبناني توقيف 19 شخصاً اعترف عدد منهم بإعداد الكمين لأحداث الطيّونة، بينما اتّهمت قيادتا حركة “أمل” وحزب الله حزب القوات اللبنانية بالاعتداء المسلّح على المحتجين
من جهته، ندّد الرئيس اللبناني العماد ميشال عون، في كلمة له الخميس الماضي، بـ”لغة السلاح“، وتعهّد بـ”محاسبة المسؤولين والمحرّضين على القتل
واستنكر رؤساء الحكومة السابقون أحداث الطيونة الأليمة، وأعربوا عن “صدمتهم البالغة، وأسفهم الشديد، وإدانتهم الكاملة للأحداث المستنكرة، والتي ذهب ضحيتها عدد من الضحايا
