The Emirates confirms that the return of Syria to the regional fold with its Arab neighborhood is a must-stress that the Caesar Act is the biggest obstacle.
Emirati Foreign Minister ‘Abd Allah ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān said today, on Tuesday that Syria’s return to its neighborhood is a must, which is the interest of Syria and everyone. Thus confirming that the biggest obstacle which the cooperation and the common work with Syria faces is the “Caesar Act”.
During a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, the Emirati Foreign Minister underlined that “the necessity of regional work and cooperation the start path returning Syria to its neighborhood, which matter is not upon who wants it and who doesn’t, is a matter of general interest, the interest of Syria and the interest of the region”.
He added saying: “There are differences between the various sides, but there has to be work on returning Syria to its regional neighbors, and one the most important roles Syria has to return to is its role in the Arab League. No doubt this needs efforts from the Syrian side as well, but a slow effort from our friends in the Arab League”.
It has been almost year that the last telephone call happened between Syrian President Baššār al-Asad and the Crown Prince of Abū Zabī Ḥamad [Muḥammad] ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān.
At that time the Syrian presidential office issued a statement that Ibn Zāyid confirmed the Emirati support for the Syrian people in these exceptional circumstances, thus pointing out that “Syria will not remain on its own in these embarrassing circumstances”.
It should be pointed out that the Emirates in 2018 reopened its embassy in Damascus 7 years after closing it and cutting all relations with Syria.

قال وزير الخارجية الإماراتي عبد الله بن زايد آل نهيان، اليوم الثلاثاء، إن عودة سوريا إلى محيطها أمر لابد منه، وهو من مصلحة سوريا والمنطقة ككل، مؤكداً أن التحدي الأكبر الذي يواجه التنسيق والعمل المشترك مع سوريا هو “قانون قيصر
وزير الخارجية الإماراتي، وخلال مؤتمر صحفي مع نظيره الروسي سيرغي لافروف، شدد على “ضرورة التعاون والعمل الإقليمي لبدء مشوار عودة سوريا إلى محيطها، وهذا الأمر لا يتعلق بمن يريد أو لا يريد، المسألة هي مسألة المصلحة العامة، مصلحة سوريا، ومصلحة المنطقة
وأضاف قائلاً إن “هناك منغصات بين مختلف الأطراف، ولا يمكن إلا العمل على عودة سوريا لمحيطها الإقليمي، وأحد الأدوار المهمة التي يجب أن تعود إليها سوريا دورها في الجامعة الجامعة العربية، ولا شك أن ذلك يتطلب جهداً أيضاً من الجانب السوري وجهداً من زملائنا في الجامعة العربية
ومنذ عام تقريباً، جرى أخر اتصال هاتفي بين الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد، وولي عهد أبو ظبي حمد بن زايد آل نهيان
حيث أعلنت يومذاك الرئاسة السورية في بيانها، أن بن زايد أكد دعم الإمارات للشعب السوري في هذه الظروف الاستثنائية، مشيراً إلى أن “سوريا لن تبقى وحدها في هذه الظروف الحرجة
يشار إلى أن الإمارات أعادت عام 2018 افتتاح سفارتها في دمشق بعد 7 سنوات من الإغلاق وقطع علاقاتها مع سوريا
