Social media activists are circulating a picture of a tweet attributed to the half brother of the Jordanian king, where he would share a link to an article posted by the “Middle East Eye” heavily criticizing the Emirati Israeli normalization.
The social media flared up during last 24 hours after a tweet activists say it was “attributed” to Prince ‘Alī ibn al-Ḥussayn as if he wrote it and “mocked” in it the state of the Emirates for the normalization with “Israel”.
Social media activists are circulating a picture of a tweet attributed to the half brother of the Jordanian king, where he would share a link to an article posted by the “Middle East Eye” heavily criticizing the Emirati Israeli normalization.
The article was printed under the name “UAE-Israeli deal: Breakthrough or betrayal?”, and it also contained an “condemning” picture about Abū Zabī’s Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Zāyid.
The tweet attributed to the Jordanian prince caused huge uproar amongst the social media activists, between the supporters and the opposition, as it was claimed that the brother of the Jordanian king posted them.
At the same time others considered that the tweet expresses a personal opinion about Prince ‘Alī ibn al-Ḥussayn, while some went as far as saying that this is the official position of Jordan.
The Emirati media confirmed that the Jordanian prince deleted the tweet after it caused fury in the Emirates and in the Gulf, according to the Emirati “Erem News”.
Jordan made a peace treaty with “Israel” in October 1994 and since that time there are orderly political relations between the two. However, the two states never achieved true political closeness.
In the middle of August the United States have announced that a historical peace accords was reached between the Emirates and “Israel”, thus became the first Gulf state to normalize relations with the Hebrew state, and becoming the third [fourth] Arab state to do that after Egypt and Jordan.
