The Emirates morns the president of the state, Halīfa ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān, who has deceased at the age of 73, and announces 40 days long general mourning.
Today, on Friday the Emirati Minister of Presidential Affairs mourned the president of the state, aš-Šayh Halīfa ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān.
The Emirates announced official mourning the lowering of the flags for 40 days, but also the halt of works in the ministries and the federal and local government offices and organizations and also in the private sector for 3 days starting today, as mourning for aš-Šayh Halīfa ibn Zāyid.
Aš-Šayh Halīfa ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān, who has deceased at the age of 73 was the oldest son of aš-Šayh Zāyid ibn Sulṭān Āl Nahyān, the founder of the state of the United Arab Emirates and its first president from 1971 on.
Halīfa ibn Zāyid took over control in February 2004 following his father.

الإمارات تنعى رئيس الدولة خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان، الذي توفي عن عمر يناهز 73 عاماً، وتعلن الحداد العام 40 يوماً
نعت وزارة شؤون الرئاسة الإماراتية، اليوم الجمعة، رئيس الدولة الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان
وأعلنت الإمارات الحداد الرسمي وتنكيس الأعلام لمدة 40 يوماً، وتعطيل العمل في الوزارات والدوائر والمؤسسات الاتحادية والمحلية والقطاع الخاص 3 أيام بدءاً من اليوم، حداداً على الشيخ خليفة بن زايد.
الشيخ خليفة الذي توفي عن عمر يناهز 73 عاماً، يعد الابن الأكبر للشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، مؤسّس دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وأوّل رئيس لها منذ العام 1971.
وتولى خليفة بن زايد مقاليد الحكم في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر من العام 2004 خلفاً لوالده
