Official spokesman of the Qatari Foreign Ministry: We are not close to a ceasefire, but we are optimistic.

Official spokesman of the Qatari Foreign Ministry confirms the ongoing efforts by his country to reach a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and not just a short term one lasting for few days.

Official spokesman of the Qatari Foreign Ministry Māğid al-Anṣārī reported that “the efforts of Doha to reach a ceasefire in Gaza are ongoing , but the situation on the ground is complex”. Adding that “we are not close to ceasefire agreement in Gaza, but we are optimistic”.

Al-Anṣārī confirmed Qatar working “for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, not just a short term one lasting for few days”.

Member of the Ḥamās Movement’s Political Office Ḥussām Badrān had stated on Thursday that a delegation of the movement left Cairo to conduct more consultations with its leadership.

Badrān said that “the reason makes the negotiations to stumble is rooted in the will of the Occupation government’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with his stance trying to play on gaining more time”.

Badrān had talked to the “Sputnik” agency about Netanyahu’s refusal to a ceasefire saying that “there are no positive responses about the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and there are no guarantees of for the entry of aid, for reconstruction, nor about the matter of the return of the refugees to their homes in the north of the Gaza Strip”.

According to that member of the Ḥamās leadership “the Occupation is stalling and as if they want to gain more time, and don’t want to answer to these just demands of the Palestinian people”.

أفاد المتحدث باسم الخارجية القطرية، ماجد الأنصاري، “أنّ جهود الدوحة للتوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف. إطلاق النار في غزة مستمرة، لكن الوضع على الأرض معقّد”، مضيفاً “نحن لسنا قريبين من. اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار في غزة لكننا متفائلون”.

وأكّد الأنصاري عمل قطر “من أجل وقف دائم لإطلاق النار في غزة وليس لهدنة قصيرة تستمر بضعة أيام”.

وكان عضو المكتب السياسي لحركة حماس، حسام بدران، قد صرّح يوم الخميس، أن وفد الحركة غادر. القاهرة لإجراء مزيد من النقاشات مع قيادته.

وقال بدران إنّ “سبب تعثّر المفاوضات يكمن في إصرار رئيس حكومة الاحتلال بنيامين نتنياهو على. مواقفه ومحاولته التلاعب لكسب مزيد من الوقت

وتحدّث بدران لوكالة “سبوتنيك” عن رفض نتنياهو لوقف إطلاق النار، قائلاً إنّه “لا توجد ردود إيجابية. حول الانسحاب من قطاع غزة، ولا ضمان لدخول المساعدات، ولا الإعمار، وأيضاً الموضوع. متعلّق بعودة النازحين إلى بيوتهم بالذات في شمال قطاع غزة”.

وبحسب القيادي في حماس، فإن “الاحتلال يتلاعب وكأنه يريد أن يكسب. المزيد من الوقت ولا يريد الاستجابة لهذه المطالب العادلة لشعبنا الفلسطيني
