In Moscow Syrian President Baššār al-Asad and Russian President Vladimir Putin gathered to study the bilateral relations between the two countries and the developments in the region.

Syrian President Baššār al-Asad took a work visit to Russia during which he met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and with him studied the series of aspects of the bilateral relations between the two countries. He also discussed the situation of the Middle East region and escalating developments it witnesses, but also the joint cooperation to deal with them.

President al-Asad believed that both Syria and Russia went through difficult challenges and have always managed to pass through them, mentioning the mutual trust and trustworthiness the relations of the two countries and peoples are built upon. He confirmed that this is an indication of the revival of the relations of the two countries.

Al-Asad described his meeting with the Russian president as important to discuss the various scenarios in light of the current geopolitical situation.

Al-Asad pointed out that his visit coincided with the 80th anniversary of his country’s relations with Russia.

On his own behalf Putin underlined that the situation in getting more complicated in the Middle East and that the discussions with the Syrian President is a chance to study all the developments and the possible scenarios, confirming at the same time that there are promising possibilities for the economic and trade relations between Syria and Russia.

During the meeting Putin confirmed discussing the bilateral relations and the situation in the region, which he described as “leaning to escalation”, pointing out that is looming over Syria as well.

Putin hoped for studying the trade and economic relations between Moscow and Damascus, pointing out that a many questions are still suggested in this regard.

The Russian president received his Syrian counterpart on Thursday in the Kremlin in the Russian capital Moscow, where they held a meeting discussing the bilateral relations between the two countries and the developments in the region in light of the ongoing war against the Gaza Strip.

80 years of relations between Syria and Russia

Few days ago the two presidents have exchanged congratulatory letters on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the relations between Syria and Russia. In his message al-Asad pointed out that the two countries “have reciprocated the support for eighty years and remained committed to the principles and the dignity, despite what they have faced in the forms of pressure and attempts to deceive and break their will”.

He added that the policies and the positions of Russia “confirmed its stance as a power that is aiming for good and peace and is based on principles, values and on the respect for the sovereignty of states”.

On his behalf Putin in his letter said that “Moscow and Damascus during the last few decades have gathered valuable experience in the bilateral cooperation in a number of various fields.

He continued that the continuous development of the Russian-Syria relations as a whole “completely agrees with the interests of the peoples of the two countries and progresses on the path of strengthening the peace and stability on the regional and global level”.

أجرى الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد زيارة عمل إلى روسيا التقى خلالها نظيره الروسي. فلاديمير بوتين، وبحث معه مجمل جوانب العلاقات بين البلدين، كما بحث الوضع في منطقة الشرق الأوسط. والتطوّرات المتسارعة التي تعيشها، وجوانب التنسيق المشترك للتعامل معها. 

واعتبر الرئيس الأسد أنّ كلاً من سوريا وروسيا مرّتا بتحديات صعبة واستطاعتا تجاوزها. دائماً، منوّهاً للثقة والمصداقية المتبادلة التي تقوم عليها علاقات البلدين والشعبين، مؤكداً أنّ هذا مؤشّر على نضج العلاقات بين البلدين.

ووصف الأسد اجتماعه مع الرئيس الروسي بالمهم لمناقشة سيناريوهات مختلفة، وذلك بالنظر إلى الوضع الجيو سياسي الحالي.

الأسد لفت إلى أنّ زيارته تتزامن مع الذكرى الـ80 لإقامة العلاقات بين بلاده وروسيا.

من جهته شدّد بوتين على أنّ الوضع يزداد توتراً في الشرق الأوسط وأنّ المباحثات مع الرئيس. السوري فرصة لبحث كل التطورات والسيناريوهات المحتملة، مؤكداً في الوقت نفسه أن. هناك فرصاً واعدة للعلاقات الاقتصادية والتجارية بين سوريا وروسيا. 

وأكد بوتين، خلال الاجتماع، مناقشة العلاقات الثنائية والوضع في المنطقة الذي وصفه بأنه “يميل. إلى التصعيد”، مشيراً إلى أنّ هذا ينطبق على سوريا أيضاً.

وأمل بوتين بحث العلاقات التجارية والاقتصادية بين موسكو. ودمشق، لافتاً إلى أنّ العديد من الأسئلة لا تزال مطروحة في هذا الشأن.

واستقبل الرئيس الروسي، نظيره السوري، اليوم الخميس، في الكرملين، في العاصمة الروسية. موسكو، حيث عقدا اجتماعاً لبحث العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين والمستجدات في المنطقة، في ظل الحرب المستمرة على قطاع غزة.

80 عاماً من العلاقات بين سوريا وروسيا

وقبل أيام تبادل الرئيسان برقيات التهاني بمناسبة مرور 80 عاماً من العلاقات بين سوريا. وروسيا، وشدّد الأسد، في رسالته، على أنّ البلدين “تبادلا الدعم على مدى ثمانين عاماً، وبقيا متمسّكين بالمبادئ. والكرامة، على الرغم من تعرّضهما لكلّ أشكال الضغوط ومحاولات الإخضاع وكسر الإرادة”.

وأضاف أنّ سياسات ومواقف روسيا “أكدت موقعها كقوة تسعى للخير والسلام، وتستند للمبادئ والقيم واحترام سيادة الدول”. 

بدوره، قال بوتين في رسالته إنّ “موسكو ودمشق اكتسبتا، أثناء العقود الماضية، خبرة ثرية. للتعاون الثنائي في العديد من المجالات المختلفة. 

وتابع أنّ التنمية المستمرة للعلاقات الروسية – السورية بأكملها، “تتفق تماماً ومصالح شعبي. البلدين، وتتماشى على نهج تعزيز السلام والاستقرار على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي
