Political adviser of Sayf al-Islām al-Qaddāfī, ‘Abd Allah ‘Utmān has announced on Tuesday that news of his death, pointing out that the perpetrators attacking him are unknown.
Al-Qaddāfī “suffered an armed ambush in the outskirts of the city of az-Zantān following an armed clash that had erupted between and armed group and the members of the force guarding him”. Thus according to ‘Utmān.
At the same time ‘Utmān explained that 4 armed men raided the residence of Sayf al-Islām after they disabled the surveillance cameras and attacked him.
Sayf al-Islām was one of the most prominent sons of late Libyan leader Mu‘ammar al-Qaddāfī and had appeared on the political stage after the government of his father had collapsed. He was an official candidate for the election that were scheduled to 2021, but were cancelled at the late minute.

أعلن المستشار السياسي لسيف الإسلام القذافي، عبد الله عثمان، اليوم الثلاثاء، خبر وفاته، لافتاً إلى أن الجهة المنفذة لاستهدافه غير معلومة.
وكان القذافي “تعرّض لكمين مسلح في ضواحي مدينة الزنتان، عقب اشتباك مسلح اندلع بين مجموعة مسلحة وأفراد القوة المرافقة له”، بحسب عثمان.
في الوقت نفسه، أوضح عثمان أنّ 4 مسلحين اقتحموا مقر إقامة سيف القذافي بعد تعطيلهم كاميرات المراقبة وقاموا بتصفيته.
وسيف الإسلام هو أحد أبرز أبناء الزعيم الليبي الراحل معمر القذافي، وقد ظهر في المشهد السياسي الليبي بعد سقوط نظام والده، وترشح رسمياً إلى الانتخابات التي كانت مقرّرة عام 2021، ولكنها أُلغيت في اللحظة الأخيرة.
