Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets with his Algerian counterpart Ramṭān La‘amāra on the side of a meeting with the representatives of the Arab League and expresses that he has the intention to visit Algeria soon.
Today, on Monday Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow met with his Algerian counterpart Ramṭān La‘amāra. This happened on the side of a meeting with the representatives of the Arab League’s contact group.
During the meeting, the Russian Foreign Minister expressed his “intention to visit Algeria soon”. According to what came in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry it was pointed out that he is “happy to take the chance to discuss the bilateral relations with Algeria”.
Lavrov said: “I believe that I shall take a visit to Algeria soon”. He continued by joking: “I will insist that they receive me”. He added: “It is said amongst us: “Better to come late than not coming at all”.
Two days ago the director of the Algerian energy company “Sonatrac” announced that “the capabilities of the company at the present state make it incapable to compensate the Russian natural gas supply”.
This comes only a few after the visit of American State Secretary Antony Blinken to Algeria, where the most important goal of the visit was the attempt of the United States to pressure Algeria for compensating the Russian natural gas being exported to Europe.

وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي لافروف يلتقي نظيره الجزائري رمطان لعمامرة، على هامش لقاءٍ مع ممثلين لجامعة الدول العربية، ويعرب له عن نيّته زيارة الجزائر قريباً
التقى وزير الخارجية الروسي، سيرغي لافروف، اليوم الاثنين في موسكو، نظيره الجزائري رمطان لعمامرة، وذلك على هامش لقاءٍ مع ممثلي مجموعة الاتصال التابعة لجامعة الدول العربية.
وخلال اللقاء، أعرب وزير الخارجية الروسية عن “عزمه زيارة الجزائر قريباً”، وفق ما جاء في بيانٍ لوزارة الخارجية الروسية، مشيراً إلى أنّه “سعيدٌ بإتاحة الفرصة له لمناقشة العلاقات الثنائية مع الجزائر”.
وقال لافروف: “أتوقّع أن أقوم بزيارةٍ إلى الجزائر قريباً”، وتابع ممازحاً: “سأصرّ على أن تستقبلوني”، وأضاف: “يُقال عندنا: أن تأتي متأخّراً خيرٌ من ألّا تأتي أبداً”.
وأول أمس، أعلن رئيس شركة الطاقة الجزائرية، “سوناطراك”، أنَّ “قدرات الشركة في الوقت الحالي لا يمكنها تعويض إمدادات الغاز الروسي“.
وأتى ذلك بعد أيام من زيارة وزير الخارجية الأميركية، أنتوني بلينكن، إلى الجزائر، حيث تمثّلت أهم أهداف الزيارة في سعي الولايات المتحدة إلى الضغط على الجزائر لتعويض الغاز الروسي المُصَّدر إلى أوروبا
