According to what the Saudi news agency stated yesterday, on Wednesday, this happened during a telephone conversation received by the Saudi monarch from President Biden.
The conversation saw the confirmation from both sides to “historical strategic relations, which connects Saudi Arabia and the United States”. Also the necessity of “strengthening the partnership between the two countries serving the common interests and achieving the security and stability of the region and the world”.
The Saudi monarch emphasized “the importance of continuing and strengthening the joint security cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and its finances”, greeting what Biden suggested as “commitment to support the kingdom in the defense of its lands and protecting its citizens”.
The “WAS” news agency reported that the Saudi king expressed the support of his country for the efforts of the American administration striving to prevent Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, thus confirming the necessity “of joint work to combat the destructive activities by the proxies of Iran in the region”.
As for the energy and the oil markets, the Saudi King during the conversion confirmed “the importance of securing a balance in the oil markets and its stability”. Also emphasizing “the historic role of the OPEC+ in this and the importance of up-keeping it”.
King Salmān expressed “the resolve of Saudi Arabia to struggle against all causes of tension in the region and to continue dialogues”.
About the war in Yemen, which is led by Saudi Arabia, Salmān confirmed the intention of his country to “reach a comprehensive political solution and its strive to achieve security and prosperity for the Yemeni people”.
It should be remembered that members of the American Congress at the end of last month demanded explanations from Biden about the ways of support the United States is giving to the Saudi Coalition in its war against Yemen. They called upon him to “postpone taking any steps leading to more turmoils for Washington in the destructive conflict going on for years”.
It also interesting to point out that the last official phone conversation between Biden and the Saudi monarch was roughly a year ago, close to that time when an American evaluation came out mentioning Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Salmān agreed to the assassination operation, or murder of journalist Ğamāl Hāšuqğī in 2018.

ناقش العاهل السعودي الملك سلمان بن عبد العزيز مع الرئيس الأميركي جو بايدن العلاقات الاستراتيجية بين البلدين، والتطورات في الشرق الأوسط، بما في ذلك إيران واليمن.
جاء ذلك خلال اتصال هاتفي تلقاه العاهل السعودي من الرئيس الأميركي، بحسب وكالة الأنباء السعودية أمس الأربعاء.
وشهد الاتصال تأكيد الجانبين على “العلاقة الاستراتيجية التاريخية التي تربط السعودية والولايات المتحدة”، وضرورة “تعزيز الشراكة بين البلدين، بما يخدم المصالح المشتركة، ويحقق أمن المنطقة والعالم واستقرارهما”.
وشدّد العاهل السعودي على “أهمية استمرار وتعزيز التعاون الأمني المشترك في مجال مكافحة الإرهاب وتمويله”، مشيداً بما أبداه بايدن من “التزام بدعم المملكة في الدفاع عن أراضيها وحماية مواطنيها
وأفادت وكالة “واس” بأنّ الملك السعودي عبّر عن دعم بلاده لجهود الإدارة الأميركية الهادفة إلى منع امتلاك إيران السلاح النووي، مؤكداً ضرورة “العمل المشترك لمواجهة الأنشطة الهدامة لأذرع إيران في المنطقة”.
وفي ما يتعلق بالطاقة وأسواق البترول، أكد الملك السعودي خلال الاتصال “أهمية الحفاظ على توازن أسواق البترول واستقرارها”، منوهاً “بدور اتفاق أوبك+ التاريخي في ذلك وأهمية المحافظة عليه”.
وعبّر الملك سلمان عن “حرص السعودية على نزع كل أسباب التصعيد في المنطقة ومواصلة الحوار”.
وبخصوص الحرب في اليمن التي تقودها السعودية، أكد سلمان رغبة بلاده “في الوصول إلى حل سياسي شامل، وسعيها لتحقيق الأمن والنماء للشعب اليمني”.
يُذكر أنّ أعضاء من الكونغرس الأميركي طالبوا بايدن، أواخر الشهر الفائت، بتوضيحات حول أشكال الدعم الذي تقدمه الولايات المتحدة للتحالف السعودي في حربه على اليمن، ودعوه إلى “تجنّب اتخاذ أي خطوات تؤدي إلى المزيد من تورط واشنطن في الصراع المدمر المستمر منذ سنوات”.
كما تجدر الإشارة إلى أنّ آخر اتصال معلن بين بايدن والعاهل السعودي جرى قبل نحو عام، قرب وقت صدور تقييم أميركي ذكر أنّ ولي العهد الأمير محمد بن سلمان قد وافق على عملية لاعتقال أو قتل الصحافي جمال خاشقجي في عام 2018
