The Iranian Army confronted an American destroyer that attempted to get close to its territorial waters in the Sea of Oman, and the destroyer was forced to take distance.

The official Iranian television has reported on Wednesday that naval planes of the army on Wednesday morning prevented an American destroyer to get close to the territorial waters under the control of Tehran in the Sea of Oman.

It said that “a helicopter of the Iranian Army’s Navy flew above the American destroyer and issued a warning to it demanding it to take distance”, pointing out that the American destroyer threatened the aircraft with targeting it, yet the Iranian plane contained its duties and repeated its warning that it must take distance from the Iranian waters.

The Iranian television pointed out that in response to the repeated threat by the American destroyer the air defense systems of the army intervened and conveyed a decisive message confirming that the naval helicopter is under the full protection of the air defense and that the American vessel carrying the name of “DDG Fitzgerald” must change its course to the south.

It also pointed out that due to the adamancy of the plane’s crew and the support by the Iranian Army’s air defense the American destroyer had to depart and take distance from the waters under the jurisdiction of Tehran.

وقال إنّ “مروحية تابعة لبحرية الجيش الإيراني حلّقت فوق المدمّرة الأميركية، وأصدرت. تحذيرًا لها وطالبتها بالابتعاد”، مشيرًا إلى أنّ المدمّرة الأميركية هدّدت الطائرة بالاستهداف، إلا أنّ الطيار. الإيراني واصل مهمّته وكرّر تحذيره بضرورة الابتعاد عن المياه الإيرانية
