Despite the American pressures and the Corona epidemic, the Iranian economy is not in a state of recession as many hopes in Washington. This is what the American “Foreign Policy” confirms, which also points out that the aggressive speeches of Trump and his measures did not make Iran kneel more to sign a new deal.
The American “Foreign Policy” magazine said that Iran has proven its resolve against the American pressures, adding that “while a number of the ordinary citizens suffer the economy is not in a state of recession as many have hoped in Washington”.
The magazine added that instead of this the country has shown signs of economic revival with the growth of domestic production and employment.
According to the director of the Iranian Central Bank ‘Abd an-Nāṣer Hemmatī the Iranian non-oil GDP, last year grew by 1,1% last year.
Also the significant Iranian economist Sa‘īd Līlāz confirmed to the magazine that the Iranian economy can overcome the current Corona epidemic, and witnesses growth this year, in spite of the virus.
The “Foreign Policy” pointed out that the aggressive rhetoric and his measures did not make Iran any more to lean for signing a new deal. It only undermined those Iranian officials, who supported the negotiations with the United States.
The American magazine continued that “intentionally, or unintentionally, but the political decisions of Trump shut all the diplomatic possibilities and resulted in a political price, which any person will have to pay very dearly, who supports the negotiation option. That has become clear by the standings of the Iranian official after the last exchange.
The magazine added, “Trump is mistaken if he thinks that the “maximum pressure” policy brings him closer to sign a new deal with Iran. This policy does not contribute to the surrender of Iran, nor this its decline, it only aggravates the animosity between the United States and Iran, and brings them always to the brink of war in the Middle East”.
According to the “Foreign Policy,” an alternative can be found, but that requires from Trump to finish the maximum pressure policy and has to return to build the trust needed for successful negotiations.
It pointed out that the international relations and the real estate are not similar fields, expressing that “brutality and intimidation do not result in deals. Mutual trust and compromise are common profits. Adding that Trump has decreed himself as the “deal-maker”, yet until now, and before the elections next November he has not achieved any victories in the foreign policy”.
It believed that if Trump wished to show any signs of achieving anything positive in the foreign policy, he has to distance himself from the path of war and has to conduct a policy of negotiations with Iran.

قالت مجلة “فورين بوليسي” الأميركية إن إيران أثبتت مرونتها في مواجهة الضغوط الأميركية، مضيفة أنه “بينما يعاني العديد من المواطنين العاديين فإن الاقتصاد ليس في حالة انهيار، كما كان يأمل الكثيرون في واشنطن
وأضافت المجلة أنه بدلاً من ذلك أظهرت البلاد علامات على الانتعاش الاقتصادي، مع زيادة الإنتاج المحلي والعمالة
ووفقاً لرئيس البنك المركزي الإيراني عبد الناصر همتي، فقد نما الناتج المحلي الإجمالي الإيراني غير النفطي بنسبة 1.1 في المائة العام الماضي
هذا وأكد الاقتصادي الإيراني البارز سعيد ليلاز للمجلة، أن الاقتصاد الإيراني يمكن أن يتغلب على جائحة كورونا المستجد، وقد يشهد نمواً هذا العام على الرغم من الفيروس
وأشارت “فورين بوليسي” إلى أن خطاب الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب وإجراءاته العدوانية، لم تجعل إيران أكثر ميلاً إلى إبرام صفقة، بل هي قوّضت المسؤولين الإيرانيين الذين أيّدوا المفاوضات مع الولايات المتحدة
وتابعت المجلة الأميركية “سواء عن قصد أو غير قصد، فإن قرارات ترامب السياسية قد أغلقت احتمالات الدبلوماسية، وبات الثمن السياسي الذي سيدفعه أي شخص يدافع عن خيار المفاوضات باهظاً جداً، وهو ما بدا واضحاً في مواقف المسؤولين الإيرانيين بعد التبادل الأخير
وأردفت المجلة، “يخطئ ترامب إذا كان يعتقد أن سياسة “الضغط الأقصى” تجعله أقرب إلى إبرام صفقة مع إيران. إن هذه السياسة لا تؤدي إلى استسلام إيران أو انهيارها، بل ترسخ العداء بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، وتجعلهما دائماً على حافة الحرب في الشرق الأوسط
وبحسب “فورين بوليسي” من الممكن اتباع نهج بديل، لكنه يتطلب من ترامب التخلص من سياسة الضغط الأقصى، وإعادة بناء الثقة اللازمة للمفاوضات الناجحة
وأشارت إلى أن العلاقات الدولية وسوق العقارات ليسا أمرين متشابهين، معتبرة أن “البلطجة والتهويل لا يؤديان إلى الصفقات. الاحترام المتبادل والتسوية هما المكسب للجميع، مضيفة أن ترامب صنّف نفسه على أنه “صانع صفقات”، ولكن حتى الآن وقبل انتخابات تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر لم يحقق أي انتصارات في السياسة الخارجية
واعتبرت أنه إذا كان ترامب يريد أي مظهر من مظاهر الإرث الإيجابي في السياسة الخارجية، فهو بحاجة إلى الابتعاد عن طريق الحرب وسلوك طريق المفاوضات مع إيران
