The Egyptian Court of Appeals sustains the life imprisonment sentence for the overall leader of the Muslim Brotherhood Muḥammad Badī‘, and also for Muḥammad al-Baltağī and Ṣafwat Ḥiğāzī.
On Wednesday the Egyptian Court of Appeals issued a new final sentence against the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and two other leading members of the Brotherhood with life imprisonment under the charge of “acts of aggression and murder and agitation for them”.
According to the official “Aš-Šarq al-Awsaṭ News Agency” the “Court of Appeals in a session held today issued a final sentence against defendant Supreme Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group Muḥammad Badī‘ and two Brotherhood leadership members Muḥammad al-Baltağī and Ṣafwat Ḥiğāzī, by life imprisonment, thus finding them all guilty in committing acts of aggression and murder and agitation for them, which happened in the province of Port Sa‘īd in August 2013, which are known under the name of events by the Arab Police Department”.
The sentence issued by the Court of Appeals also included the punishment of 6 other accused from the leadership and membership of the terrorist group by 15 years of military prison and 3 years confinement for another accused. 59 other accused were found innocent. Thus according to the official news agency.
The agency added that “the accused were sentenced for the murder cases of 5 personnel and authorizing the killing of 70 others in the events that happened in Port Sa‘īd following the armed uprising in the area of Rābi‘a al-‘Adawiyya in Cairo. These events included armed attacks by members of the Brotherhood organization against the Arab Police Department in Port Sa‘īd, smuggling prisoners from there and stealing weapons”.

محكمة النقض المصرية تثبّت حكم السجن المؤبد على المرشد العام للإخوان المسلمين محمد بديع وكل من محمد البلتاجي وصفوت حجازي
أصدرت محكمة النقض المصرية، اليوم الأربعاء، حكما نهائياً جديداً ضد مرشد جماعة الإخوان المسلمين وقياديين اثنين بالجماعة بالسجن المؤبد بتهمة “ارتكاب والتحريض على ارتكاب العنف والقتل”.
وبحسب وكالة “أنباء الشرق الوسط” الرسمية فقد “أصدرت محكمة النقض في جلستها المنعقدة اليوم حكماً نهائياً وباتاً بمعاقبة المرشد العام لجماعة الإخوان الإرهابية محمد بديع، والقيادي الإخواني محمد البلتاجي، وصفوت حجازي، بالسجن المؤبد وذلك لإدانتهم جميعاً بارتكاب والتحريض على ارتكاب أحداث العنف والقتل التي وقعت في محافظة بورسعيد في آب/أغسطس 2013 ، والمعروفة باسم أحداث قسم شرطة العرب”.
كما تضمن الحكم الصادر عن محكمة النقض، معاقبة 6 متهمين آخرين من كوادر وعناصر الجماعة الإرهابية، بالسجن المشدد لمدة 15 سنة، والحبس لمدة 3 سنوات بحق متهم آخر، والقضاء ببراءة 59 متهما آخرين، بحسب الوكالة الرسمية.
وأضافت الوكالة أن “المتهمون حوكموا عن واقعة قتل 5 أشخاص والشروع في قتل 70 آخرين، في الأحداث التي شهدتها بورسعيد في أعقاب فض الاعتصام المسلح بمنطقة رابعة العدوية في القاهرة، وما تضمنته تلك الأحداث من هجوم مسلح من قبل أعضاء تنظيم الإخوان، على قسم شرطة العرب في بورسعيد وتهريب السجناء منه وسرقة أسلحة
