On Wednesday Egyptian President ‘Abd al-Fattāḥ as-Sīsī and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a joint statement about the Strategic Cooperation Council.

This came after the second meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council, the highest level between Egypt and Türkiye. This was held in Cairo within the official visit of the Turkish President.

Also, as-Sīsī and Erdoğan held bilateral negotiations, which addressed the ways to raise the volume of the trade exchange between the two states via the Business Forum, in addition to the follow up of the regional developments in the area.

Erdoğan is visiting Egypt with thin a regional tour that had started in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to discuss the bilateral ties between the countries two countries and the current regional developments.

It should be pointed out that the two countries were in differences about numerous matters, most significant of these was the Eastern Mediterranean and the matter of Libya, but also about the Muslim Brotherhood, which is designed as a “terrorist” organization in Egypt, yet they managed to overcome the matters of differences.

Egypt and Türkiye agreed to raise the trade exchange between the two countries to $15 billion in the next few years in a step that counts to be an indication for growing economic closeness between the two sides. The recent period has also witnessed important meetings between the ministers and officials of the two sides.

The visit by Erdoğan to Egypt came after his visit to Saudi Arabia, where Saudi Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Salmān confirmed the need to stabilize the ceasefire in Gaza and to end the occupation, paving the way for the return of the Palestinian National Authority to take charge over the Gaza Strip.

وجاء ذلك بعد الاجتماع الثاني لمجلس التعاون الاستراتيجي، الرفيع المستوى بين. مصر وتركيا، والذي عقد في القاهرة في إطار الزيارة الرسمية للرئيس التركي.

كذلك، عقد السيسي وإردوغان مباحثات ثنائية تناولت سبل رفع مستوى التبادل. التجاري بين البلدين، عبر منتدى رجال الأعمال، إضافة إلى متابعة التطورات الإقليمية في المنطقة.

ويزور إردوغان مصر، ضمن جولة في المنطقة بدأها من السعودية، أمس الثلاثاء، لمناقشة. العلاقات الثنائية مع البلدين والتطورات الإقليمية الراهنة.

يُشار إلى أن البلدين كانا على خلاف بشأن  ملفات عدة، أبرزها ملف شرق المتوسط، وملف. ليبيا، وكذلك في ما يتعلق بجماعة الإخوان المصنفة “إرهابية” في مصر، لكنهما تجاوزا النقاط الخلافية.

واتفقت مصر وتركيا على رفع حجم التبادل التجاري بين البلدين إلى 15 مليار دولار. في السنوات المقبلة، في خطوة تعد مؤشراً على التقارب الاقتصادي المتصاعد بين الجانبين، كما شهدت. الفترة الأخيرة لقاءات مهمة بين وزراء ودبلوماسيين من الجانبين.
