The Constitutional Council in Chad bars 11 presidential candidates, including two opposing the ruling militia council. The main coalition of the opposition calls for boycotting the elections.

The Constitutional Council in Chad excludes 11 candidates for the presidential elections in the country, including two major opponents of the ruling military council.
On Saturday the main opposition coalition had called for a boycott of the presidential elections and criticized what it named a “farce” that according to what the coalition mentioned aims to eternalize “the dictatorship of the ruling family”.
The Constitutional Council in Chad on Sunday had decided to bar 10 candidates of the presidential elections in the country, including the two main opponents of the ruling military council, Nāṣir Ibrāhīm Nīġī Kūrsāmī and Rahīṣ Aḥmad Ṣāliḥ.
The Council that is tasked with the verification of the candidates of the presidential elections that are scheduled to be held on 6 May, concluded that folders of 8 candidates of smaller parties and also the folders of the opposition members Kūrsāmī and Ṣāliḥ are “not consistent” and “not accepted”.
It should be noted that are 10 candidates of the presidential campaign in Chad, including interim president Muḥammad Idrīs Dībī Itnū along with Prime Minister Sakassih Māsirā, a former opposition member, whom the opposition criticized for his candidacy and claiming that according to the opposition coalition only aims to provide a formal multi member election already arranged for the victory of Dībī.
Also, a member of the Constitutional Council who requested not to reveal his identity told Agance France Press: “the council carried out the rulings of the constitution and the electoral law and we cannot be accused with bias”.
The rejection of the candidacy of the two main opponents of the militia council came less than a month after the main political rival of General Dībī, a relative of his Yaḥyā Dīlū Dağīrū, who was killed on 28 February by the bullets of the security forces in an attack against the headquarters of “Socialist Party Without Borders” he was leading.
It should be mentioned that Interim President of Chad Muḥammad Idrīs Dībī Itnū on 1 January appointed President of the “Transformers” Party Sakassih Māsirā as Prime Minister.
Māsirā was a long term opponent of the Dībī family, until he returned to Chad last November after reaching an agreement with the militia leaders.

أعلن المجلس الدستوري في تشاد استبعاد 11 مرشحاً من الانتخابات الرئاسية في البلاد، بينهم معارضان بارزان للمجلس العسكري الحاكم.
وقد دعا ائتلاف بارز للمعارضة في البلاد، يوم السبت، إلى مقاطعة الانتخابات الرئاسية، وانتقد. ما سمّاها “المهزلة” التي تهدف إلى إدامة “ديكتاتورية الأسرة الحاكمة”، وفق ما ذكر الائتلاف.
وكان المجلس الدستوري في تشاد قد قرر، أمس الأحد، إسقاط 10 مرشحين للانتخابات الرئاسية. في البلاد، بينهم المعارضان الشرسان للمجلس العسكري الحاكم، ناصر إبراهيم نيغي كورسامي، ورخيص أحمد صالح.
واعتبر المجلس المكلف بالمصادقة على الترشيحات للانتخابات الرئاسية، المقرر إجراؤها في 6 أيار/مايو. المقبل، أن ملفات 8 مرشحين من أحزاب صغيرة، إلى جانب ملفي المعارضَين كورسامي وصالح، “غير مطابقة” و”غير مقبولة”.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن 10 مرشحين لسباق الرئاسة في تشاد، بينهم الرئيس الانتقالي محمد إدريس ديبي. إتنو، إلى جانب رئيس الوزراء سكسيه ماسرا، وهو معارض سابق نددت المعارضة بترشحه ووصفته بأنه يسعى إلى إيجاد تعددية شكلية. على الانتخابات المحسومة نتيجتها مسبّقاً لصالح ديبي، وفق ما ذكر الائتلاف المعارض.
إلى ذلك، قال عضو في المجلس الدستوري طلب عدم كشف هويته، لوكالة الأنباء الفرنسية: “المجلس طبّق. بصرامة أحكام الدستور والقانون الانتخابي، ولا يمكن اتهامنا بالانحياز”.
ويأتي رفض ترشيح المعارضين الرئيسيين للمجلس العسكري بعد أقل من شهر من مقتل. المنافس السياسي الأبرز للجنرال ديبي، قريبه يحيى ديلو دجيرو، الذي قتل في 28 شباط/فبراير الماضي، برصاص قوات الأمن في هجوم. على مقر “الحزب الاشتراكي بلا حدود” الذي كان يتزعمه.
يذكر أن رئيس تشاد الانتقالي، محمد إدريس ديبي إتنو، عَيّن في الأول من شهر كانون. الثاني/يناير، رئيس حزب “ترانسفورمرز” المعارض، سوكسيه ماسرا، رئيساً للوزراء.
وقد بقي ماسرا معارضاً لعائلة ديبي مدةً طويلة إلى أن عاد إلى تشاد في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر. الماضي، بعدما توصل إلى اتفاق مع قادتها العسكريين
