The Tunisian and the Egyptian presidents meet in Brussels and the two confirm the strengthening of the ties that connect the two countries. As-Sīsī expressed his support to Sa‘īd for the latest measures in the country.
Egyptian President ‘Abd al-Fattāḥ as-Sīsī has met with his Tunisian colleague Qays Sa‘īd today, on Friday at the residence of as-Sīsī in the Belgian capital Brussels.
Ambassador Bassām Rāḍī, the official spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency said that during the meeting as-Sīsī underlined the “excellent brotherly relations, which connect Egypt and Tunisia, and the insistence by Egypt to move forward with the bilateral cooperation to the upmost distance”.
The Egyptian ambassador added that as-Sīsī “also underlined the continued support for the measures and efforts taken by President Sa‘īd, to overcome all threats of the current period and achieve stability and security in the country in order to build a better future for the brotherly Tunisian people”.
On his behalf the Tunisian president confirmed that “his country appreciates its ties with Egypt that being a trustworthy relation both on the official level, and that of the people”.
According to the Egyptian ambassador “Sa‘īd appreciated what Egypt has achieved during the last few years on the internal front with achievements on the fields of security, stability and progress, apart from its outstanding political weight on the regional and global levels. This is what shows its positive results in the African and Arab joint work and efforts to reach political settlements for the ongoing crises of the region”.
President Sa‘īd have visited Egypt last April. Recently on 17 January the Egyptian president welcomed the Algerian Foreign Minister Ramṭān La‘māmara and the two sides confirmed “the ongoing Arabic support for President Sa‘īd, the measures he takes and the the meticulous efforts to achieve progress in the country”.
It should be remembered that Tunisia opened a new rounds of negotiations with the IMF yesterday, on Thursday with the aim to obtain a financing plan with the value of $4 billion for the span of 4 years amidst real fears for the failure of the negotiations in light of internal and international complications.
The IMF set a condition before entering into any reform program with Tunisia the presence of political understanding and stability to make the work for its team easier outlining the needs and the reforms. Yet, this stability is still not present in the county after the measures of the Tunisian President imposed last July, which included the removal of the parliament, disposing the government and other steps.

الرئيسان المصري والتونسي يلتقيان في بروكسل، ويؤكدان على تعزيز الروابط بين البلدين. والسيسي يعرب لسعيد عن دعمه لإجراءاته الأخيرة في البلاد.
التقى الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي بنظيره التونسي قيس سعيد، اليوم الجمعة، في مقر إقامة السيسي في العاصمة البلجيكية بروكسل.
وقال السفير بسام راضي، المتحدث الرسمي باسم الرئاسة المصرية، إنّ السيسي شدد خلال اللقاء على “العلاقات الأخوية الراسخة التي تربط بين مصر وتونس، وحرص مصر على الدفع قدماً بأطر التعاون الثنائي على شتى الأصعدة”.
وأضاف السفير المصري أنّ السيسي “شدد أيضاً على الدعم المستمر للاجراءات وللجهود المبذولة من قبل الرئيس سعيد، لتجاوز كافة تحديات المرحلة الراهنة وتحقيق الاستقرار والأمن في البلاد، من أجل بناء مستقبل أفضل للشعب التونسي الشقيق”.
من جهته، أكد الرئيس التونسي على “اعتزاز بلاده بما يربطها بمصر من علاقات وثيقة على المستويين الرسمي والشعبي”.
ووفق السفير المصري، فقد “ثمّن سعيد ما حققته مصر خلال السنوات الماضية على الصعيد الداخلي من إنجازات في مجالات الأمن والاستقرار والتنمية، فضلاً عن ثقلها السياسي البارز على الصعيدين الإقليمي والدولي، وما لذلك من انعكاسات إيجابية على العمل الأفريقي والعربي المشترك، وجهود التوصل إلى تسويات سياسية للأزمات القائمة في المنطقة”.
وزار الرئيس سعيد مصر، في نيسان/أبريل الماضي. وفي 17 كانون الثاني/يناير الماضي، وخلال استقبال الرئيس المصري لوزير الشؤون الخارجية الجزائري رمطان لعمامرة، أكد الجانبان “استمرار الدعم العربي للرئيس سعيد، وما يقوم به من إجراءات وجهد حثيث لتحقيق الاستقرار في البلاد”.
يذكر أنّ تونس فتحت جولة جديدة من المحادثات مع صندوق النقد الدولي، أمس الخميس، بغرض الحصول على خط تمويل بقيمة 4 مليارات دولار على مدار 4 سنوات، وسط مخاوف جدية من فشل المفاوضات، في ظل معوقات داخلية وخارجية.
ويشترط صندوق النقد الدولي، قبل الدخول في أيّ برامج إصلاحية مع تونس، وجود توافق واستقرار سياسيين يسهّلان على فريقه العمل على تحديد الاحتياجات والإصلاحات. إلا أنّ هذا الاستقرار لا يزال غير متوافر في البلاد، بعد إجراءات الرئيس التونسي في تموز/يوليو الماضي، والتي شملت عزل البرلمان، وإقالة الحكومة وإجراءات أخرى
