The Jordanian army announces that a clash broke out between the Jordanian Armed Forces and a group of smugglers, which led to the killing of an officer and the injury of three other individuals.
A Jordanian officer was killed and three soldiers of the border patrol got wounded in a clash that happened today dawn with drug smugglers at the Jordanian-Syrian border, as it was announced by the army.
The statement of the army cited a reliable source in the Jordanian Armed Forces General Command saying “exactly at 4 a.m. today on Sunday at one of the northeastern border posts a group of smugglers opened fire upon the border patrol forces and it was responded to accordingly as the rules of engagement. That forced the smugglers to escape deep into Syrian territories”.
It explained that “the clash resulted in the martyrdom of Captain Muḥammad Yāsīn Mūsā al-Huḍayrāt and the injury of three individuals, who were carried to the King Ṭalāl Army Hospital”.
The source confirmed that “after inspecting the area huge quantities of narcotic materials were found and delivered to the authorities in charge”.
Also Jordan arrested dozens of drug dealers. The Interior Ministry confirmed that 85% of the drugs that was apprehended was intended to be smuggled out of Jordan.
The penalty for drug trade in the kingdom is a prison sentence between 3 to15 years, depending on the quantity that was possession, or consumption the punishment goes up to three years”.

الجيش الأردني يعلن عن وقوع اشتباك بين القوات المسلحة الأردنية ومجموعة من المهربين أدى إلى مقتل ضابط وإصابة 3 أفراد آخرين
قتل ضابط أردني وأصيب ثلاثة جنود من حرس الحدود في اشتباك وقع فجر الأحد مع مهربي مخدرات عند الحدود الأردنية السورية، على ما أعلن الجيش.
ونقل بيان للجيش عن مصدر مسؤول في القيادة العامة للقوات المسلحة الأردنية قوله “في تمام الساعة الرابعة من فجر اليوم الأحد، وعلى إحدى الواجهات الحدودية الشمالية الشرقية أطلقت مجموعة من المهربين النار على قوات حرس الحدود، فتم الرد بالمثل وتطبيق قواعد الاشتباك؛ مما دفع المهربين إلى الفرار داخل العمق السوري”.
وأوضح أن “الاشتباك أسفر عن استشهاد النقيب محمد ياسين موسى الخضيرات، وإصابة ثلاثة أفراد تم إخلاؤهم إلى مستشفى الملك طلال العسكري”.
وأكد المصدر أنه “وبعد تفتيش المنطقة تم ضبط كميات كبيرة من المواد المخدرة وتحويلها إلى الجهات المختصة”.
كذلك أوقف الأردن عشرات تجار المخدرات. وتؤكد وزارة الداخلية أن 85% من المخدرات التي تضبط معدة للتهريب إلى خارج الأردن.
وعقوبة الاتجار بالمخدرات في المملكة هي السجن لفترة تراوح بين ثلاثة أعوام و15 عاما تبعا للكميات المضبوطة، أما الحيازة والتعاطي فتصل عقوبتهما إلى السجن ثلاث سنوات
