Syrian President Baššār al-Asad visits the Emirates and with Abū Zabī Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Zāyid studies the regional and global developments, and the strengthening of the bilateral relations between the two states. Also with the ruler of Dubai Muḥammad ibn Rāšid Āl Maktūm discusses the strengthening of economic and trade cooperation.
According to what the Emirati “WAM” News agency reported, Syrian President Baššār al-Asad visited the state of the Emirates today, on Friday and met with Abū Zabī Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Zāyid Āl Nahyān and also with ruler of Dubai Muḥammad ibn Rāšid Āl Maktūm.
The Emirati news agency mentioned that the Crown Prince of Abū Zabī himself received the Syrian President at the Seaside Caste. Thus pointing out that Ibn Zāyid “expressed his wishes to make this visit the beginning for wellbeing, peace and stability for the brotherly Syria and the whole region”.
The “WAM” reported that Ibn Zāyid “looked over the latest developments and events on the Syrian field with President al-Asad”. The two sides also studied “the brotherly relations and cooperation, and the join coordination between the two brotherly states in order to achieve their mutual interests. Also to contribute to the security, stability and peace of the Arab world and the region of the Middle East”.
Ibn Zāyid said: “the brotherly Syria is still a central priority amongst the Arab security priorities, and the state of the Emirates is dedicated to strengthen the cooperation with it, in order to achieve the expectations of the brotherly Syrian people for stability and progress”.
The Syrian President also met with the deputy of the ruler of the state and the monarch of Dubai Muḥammad ibn Rāšid Āl Maktūm, who according to the “WAM” expressed his deepest wishes for Syria and its people to regain the security and the peace at all its regions”.
The Syrian “SANA” news agency reported in October 2021 that President al-Asad held a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince Abū Zabī, as the two sides discussed the ways of strengthening the relations between the two states and other developments of the situation both in the regional and the global level.
The delegation accompanying President al-Asad included Foreign Minister Fayṣal al-Miqdād, Minister for Syrian Presidency Affairs Manṣūr ‘Azzām and Deputy Foreign Minister dr. Baššār al-Ğa‘afarī.
The visit of al-Asad to the Emirates is his first to an Arab state since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011.
It should be pointed out that Emirati Foreign Minister ‘Abd Allah ibn Zāyid visited the Syrian capital on 9 November 2021 and met with President al-Asad, when he stated that “Syria under the leadership of al-Asad is capable to overcome the challenges”.
The Emirati Foreign Minister said in March 2021 that the return of Syria to its Arab fold “is a necessary thing, which the interest of Syria and the region”.

الرئيس السوري، بشار الأسد، يزور الإمارات ويبحث مع ولي عهد أبو ظبي، محمد بن زايد، في التطورات الإقليمة والدولية وتعزيز العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، ويبحث مع حاكم دبي، محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، في تعزيز التعاون، اقتصادياً وتجارياً
زار الرئيس السوري، بشار اﻷسد، دولة الإمارات، اليوم الجمعة، والتقى ولي عهد أبو ظبي، محمد بن زايد آل نهيّان، وحاكم دبي، محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، وفق ما أفادت به وكالة “وام” الإماراتية.
وذكرت الوكالة الإماراتية أنّ ولي عهد أبو ظبي استقبل الرئيس السوري، في قصر الشاطئ، مشيرةً إلى أنّ ابن زايد “أعرب عن تمنياته أن تكون هذه الزيارة فاتحة خير وسلام واستقرار لسوريا الشقيقة والمنطقة جمعاء”.
وأفادت “وام” بأنّ ابن زايد “اطّلع من الرئيس الأسد على آخر التطورات والمستجدات في الساحة الــسورية”، بينما بحث الجانبان في “العلاقات الأخوية والتعاون والتنسيق المشتركين بين البلدين الشقيقين، على نحو يحقّق مصالحهما المتبادلة، ويساهم في ترسيخ الأمن والاستقرار والسلم في المنطقة العربية ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط”.
ووفق الوكالة الإماراتية، أكد الجانبان “المحافظة على وحدة الأراضي السورية، وانسحاب القوات الأجنبية، بالإضافة إلى دعم سوريا وشعبها الشقيق، سياسياً وإنسانياً، للوصول إلى حلّ سلمي لجميع التحديات التي يواجهها”.
وقال ابن زايد: “سوريا الشقيقة تُعَد ركيزة أساسية من ركائز الأمن العربي، ودولة الإمارات حريصة على تعزيز التعاون معها، على نحو يحقق تطلعات الشعب السوري الشقيق نحو الاستقرار والتنمية”.
والتقى الرئيس السوري نائب رئيس الدولة وحاكم دبي، محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، الذي “أعرب عن خالص أمنياته لسوريا وشعبها، وأن يعم الأمن والسلام أرجاءها كافة”، وفق “وام”.
وأفادت وكالة “سانا” السورية، في تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2021، بأنّ الرئيس الأسد أجرى اتصالاً هاتفياً بولي عهد أبو ظبي، بحيث ناقشا سبل تعزيز العلاقات بين البلدين، وآخر تطورات الأوضاع، في الساحتين الإقليمية والدولية
وضم وفد الرئيس السوري المرافق، وزير الخارجية والمغتربين فيصل المقداد، ووزير شؤون الرئاسة السورية منصور عزام، ونائب وزير الخارجية والمغتربين بشار الجعفري.
وزيارة الأسد للإمارات هي الزيارة الأولى له لدولة عربية منذ بدء الأزمة السورية عام 2011.
يُشار إلى أنّ وزير الخارجية الإماراتي، عبد الله بن زايد، زار العاصمة السورية دمشق، في الـ9 من تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2021، والتقى الرئيس الأسد، بحيث صرّح بأنّ “سوريا بقيادة الأسد قادرة على تجاوز التحديات“.
