A fierce row was sparked by the statements former Iraqi Prime Minister Ḥaydar al-‘Abādī concerning that the Iraqi government led by the ‘Ādil ‘Abd al-Mahdī giving authorization to the American planes, which committed the crime of assassinating the leaders of the an-Naṣr [Movement] Ḥāğ Qāsem Soleymānī and Ḥāğ Abū Mahdī al-Muhandis at the beginning of this year.

Ḥaydar al-‘Abādī said: “The planes which came to Iraq and which hit the leadership in the airport obtained Iraqi authorization. Look it up and see!”.
Responding to these announcements ‘Ādil ‘Abd al-Mahdī issued a detailed statement in which he rejected and strongly accused Ḥaydar al-‘Abādī confirming that he refused the continuous American requests to fly over Baghdad airspace and the statement revealed that the Iraqi Joint Operations [Command] on 2 January, meaning only hours before the assassination operation received a message from the Commander of the American Coalition on Iraq Robert Batwayt requesting in its authorization for the American planes to enter Iraqi airspace. This matter was rejected by the Iraqi Joint Operation [Command].
Yet the matter did not end here. Hours after the announcement of ‘Abd al-Mahdī so far unconfirmed documents were leaked issued by the Iraqi air Defense Command revealing that authorizations by the Iraqi Joint Operations [Command] to three American drones coming from Jordan during the hours in which the terrorist assassination happened and that caused worries and suspicions about the ident of the side gave the authorization, or perhaps a security breach has happened.
Iraqi writer and political analysts ‘Abbās al-‘Ardāwī said to the al-‘Ālam channel: “Naturally some of the documents issued are not precise or authentic. Unfortunately, this issue started to stir up political troubles. What comes out from al-‘Abādī is part of the calls for early elections.
Though the proceedings of the matter are opened in the court with the Iraqi authorities the Irani officials keep not to be involved in the details, as they are still under investigation.
The mutual claims by Ḥaydar al-‘Abādī and ‘Ādil ‘Abd al-Mahdī and the leaked documents raised a lot of questions. Questions about how Iraq controls its airspace and the worries about those still conspiring with the American side still haven’t ended, but these don’t derail views about the source of the crime, nor about the identity of those who committed it.

جدل حاد أثارته تصريحات رئيس الوزراء العراقي السابق حيدر العبادي حول اعطاء الحكومة العراقية برئاسة عادل عبدالمهدي الموافقة للطيران الاميركي الذي ارتكب جريمة اغتيال قادة النصر الحاج قاسم سليماني والحاج أبومهدي المهندس مطلع العام الجاري
وقال حيدر العبادي:”الطائرات التي جاءت الی العراق والتي ضربت القادة في المطار حصلت علی موافقة عراقية راجعوا وانظروا.
ورداً علی هذه البيانات أصدر عادل عبدالمهدي بيانياً تفصيلياً نفی فيه وبقوة اتهامات حيدر العبادي مؤكداً انه رفض الطلبات الاميركية المتكررة للتحليق في أجواء بغداد وكشف البيان ان العمليات المشتركة العراقية تلقت في الثاني من يناير أي قبل ساعات من عملية الاغتيال رسالة من قائد التحالف الاميركي في العراق روبرت باتوايت يطالب فيها السماح للطائرات الاميركية بالدخول للمجال الجوي العراقي. الامر الذي رفضته العمليات المشتركة العراقية
لكن الامر لم ينته هنا، فبعد ساعات من بيان عادل عبدالمهدي سربت وثيقة لم يتم التأکد من صحتها صادرة من قيادة الدفاع الجوي العراقي تكشف عن موافقات أعطتها قيادة العمليات المشتركة لثلاث طائرات أميركية مسيرة قادمة من الاردن خلال الساعات التي حصلت فيها عملية الاغتيال الارهابية ما أثار تكهنات وشكوك حول الجهة التي أصدرت الموافقة وما اذا كان اختراق أمني قد حصل
وقال الكاتب والمحلل السياسي العراقي عباس العرداوي لقناة العالم:” طبعاً بعض الوثائق التي صدرت هي وثائق غيردقيقة وصريحة. للأسف هذا الموضوع بدأ يخضع لمناكفات سياسية. ماخرج به العبادي يأتي في اطار الدعاية المبكرة لانتخابات
ورغم متابعته للملف المفتوح قضائياً عند السلطات العراقية، يرجح المسؤولون الايرانيون عدم الخوض في تفاصيله كونه مازال قيد التحقيق والتحري
أسئلة كثيرة اثارتها التصريحات المتبادلة لحيدر العبادي وعادل عبدالمهدي والوثيقة المسربة. أسئلة تبدأ بمدی سيطرة العراق علی أجواءه ولاتنتهي بشكوك حول متعاونين مع الجانب الاميركي لكن كل ذلك لن يصرف الانظار عن أصل الجريمة وهوية مرتكبها
