The oppositional Tunisian an-Nahḍa Party announced that the police detained two of its prominent leaders, one of them is its temporal president Mundir al-Wanīsī.

The oppositional Tunisian an-Nahḍa Party on Tuesday announced that the police arrested two of its prominent leaders in the newest series of arrests launched against the opposition in Tunisia.
The party said that “the police arrested its interim president Mundir al-Wanīsī and a few minutes after him also ‘Abd al-Karīm al-Hārūnī, who was put into house arrest this week”.
The Tunisian arrests took place after apprehended voice recordings had been published in social media this week on which some officials in the party were accused of aiming to take control over the party and receiving illicit funding.
The General Prosecutor’s Office on Monday started an investigation into the recordings, while on a video recording on his Facebook account, al-Wanīsī had said that “the recordings are fabricated”.
Al-Harūnī presides over the Conciliatory Council of the an-Nahḍa Party, which is the highest institution in the party that was the biggest political party in the parliament under President Qays Sa‘īd in 2021.
The correspondent of al-Mayadeen in Tunisia had reported on Tuesday that former Tunisian Prime Minister Ḥammādī al-Ğibālī had been released after he had given testimony.
The police this year had arrested the leader of the an-Nahḍa Party Rāšid al-Ġannūšī, the most prominent critic of Sa‘īd, apart from a number of other party officials.
The government outlawed meetings at all party offices and the police had locked down all of its headquarters in a step that the parts described as “aiming for creating a dictatorial rule”.
The Tunisian police have also arrested on March an-Nahḍa media official ‘Abd al-Fattāḥ at-Taġūtī. At that time the parts criticized the arrest calling it a “sin”.

أكد حزب النهضة التونسي المعارض، اليوم الثلاثاء، إلقاء الشرطة القبض على اثنين من قادته البارزين، في أحدث سلسلة اعتقالات تشمل معارضين في تونس.
وقال الحزب إن “الشرطة ألقت القبض على رئيسه المؤقت منذر الونيسي، وتلاه بعد دقائق عبد الكريم الهاروني الذي وضع هذا الأسبوع قيد الإقامة الجبرية”.
يأتي اعتقال الونيسي بعد نشر تسجيلات صوتية منسوبة إليه في وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي هذا الأسبوع، اتهم فيها بعض المسؤولين في حزبه بالسعي للسيطرة على الحزب وبتلقي تمويلات غير مشروعة.
وفتحت النيابة العامة، أمس الاثنين، تحقيقاً في التسجيلات، فيما قال الونيسي في مقطع فيديو في صفحته في فيسبوك إن “التسجيلات مفبركة”.
ويرأس الهاروني مجلس شورى النهضة، وهو أعلى هيئة في الحزب الذي كان أكبر حزب سياسي في البرلمان في عهد الرئيس قيس سعيد في 2021.
وكانت مراسلة الميادين في تونس قد أفادت، أمس الثلاثاء، بإطلاق سراح رئيس الوزراء التونسي السابق، حمادي جبالي، بعد الاستماع إلى إفادته.
وألقت الشرطة القبض هذا العام على زعيم الحزب راشد الغنوشي؛ أبرز منتقدي سعيد، فضلاً عن عدد من مسؤولي الحزب الآخرين.
وحظرت الحكومة الاجتماعات في جميع مكاتب الحزب، وأغلقت الشرطة جميع مقاره، في خطوة قال الحزب إنها “تهدف إلى تكريس حكم دكتاتوري”.
واعتقلت الشرطة التونسية أيضاً في آذار/مارس الفائت مسؤول الإعلام في “النهضة” عبد الفتاح التاغوتي، وندّد الحزب عندها بالاعتقال، واصفاً إياه بـ”الظالم
