The Islamic Da‘wa Party elects Nūrī al-Mālikī to be its Secretary General for the second time in its congress taking place in Karbalā’, and the former Prime Minister Ḥaydar al-‘Abādī refrained to be present.

Head of al-Mayadeen’s Baghdad office said that “there are many disagreements which were rumored in recent times concerning the the party’s transformation into two wings. One wing represented by Nūrī al-Mālikī on the electoral list, which is the State of Law. The other wing is represented by the former Prime Minister Ḥaydar al-‘Abādī on the electoral list, which is the Naṣr [Victory] Coalition. But this slip is not the scale it is rumored.”
He added that “the convey of the conference in the province of Karbalā’ for two days and the renewal of Nūrī al-Mālikī are sufficient proofs that the Party got over the difficult period it experienced”
He added that “al-‘Abādī refrained from participating and the parliamentary representatives were renewed for the party who are 31 members.”

مدير مكتب الميادين في بغداد قال إن “هناك خلافات كثيرة كانت قد أُشيعت في الفترة الماضية حول تحول الحزب إلى شطرين، شطر يمثّله نوري المالكي بقائمة سياسية وهي دولة القانون، وشطر آخر يمثله رئيس الوزراء السابق حيدر العبادي بقائمة سياسية وهي ائتلاف النصر، ولكن هذا الانقسام ليس في الحجم الذي أُشيع عنه”
وأضاف أن “انعقاد المؤتمر على يومين في محافظة كربلاء والتجديد لنوري المالكي كافٍ كدليل على أن الحزب اجتاز المرحلة الصعبة التي مرّ بها”
كما أشار إلى أن “العبادي غاب عن الحضور، وتم التجديد لأعضاء شورى الحزب وهم 31 عضواً”
