French Minister of Defense Florence Parly announces on Friday that the French forces killed the leader of the al-Qā‘ida in the Maghreb Islamist organization ‘Abd al-Mālik Darūkdāl in Northern Mali.
French Minister of Defense Florence Parly announces on Friday night that the French army performed an operation killing the leader of the al-Qā‘ida in the Maghreb Islamist organization in it.
Parly said in a series of tweets on her “Twitter” account that the French forces have killed the leader of the al-Qā‘ida in the Maghreb Islamist organization ‘Abd al-Mālik Darūkdāl and a number of his closest operatives in an operation in Northern Mali.
Parly continued saying “I congratulate and thank all those made that possible and performed these brave operations, which strongly struck the terrorist groups”.
The French defense minister added that “our forces in cooperation with our five partners in the Sahel region will continue to follow these groups without any leniency”.
She went on saying “we will also continue operations against Dā‘iš in the Sahara, as it represents the last great terrorist threat in the region”.
Parly explained, “on 19 May the French Armed Forces managed to get hold of Muḥammad al-Murābiṭ, a Jihadi leader and an important member in the terrorist organizations”.
The French defense minister said that on the Bayou summit on 13 January the French President and the leaders of the five major Sahel states agreed to continue their effort to combat the terrorist groups active in the Sahel and the Sahara.
