The Supreme Constitutional Court in Syria announced that it received the support polls from the National Assembly for the candidates on the presidential elections, it will study the requests of all the candidates and will reveal them within five days.
The president of the Supreme Constitutional Court said that the Court received the written support poll box from the National Assembly about the candidates in the presidential elections. It added that it will study all the requests of candidacy and will reveal them within five days.
Members of the National Assembly have already submitted the written supports for the candidates in the elections of the post of president.
The general elections law stipulates that it will not accept candidacy requests for the post of the president, only if the candidate requesting it received written support for the candidacy from at least 35 members of the National Assembly. Also, none of the none members are permitted to support more than one candidate.

The gates for accepting requests for candidacy for the presidential elections closed yesterday, and the number of those submitted requests to be candidates for the post of president reached 51 candidates, 7 of them are women.
Speaker of the National Assembly Ḥammūda Ṣabbāġ has announced the beginning for the candidacy on the presidential elections enacting the rulings of the constitution starting from 19th this month until this Wednesday.
Previously today the Syrian National Assembly with majority accepted the call by the parliaments of some friendly countries to monitor the election process for the Syrian President and to oversee the course of its action.
At the same time, the Syrian National Assembly scheduled 26 May to be the date of the presidential elections, while the date for the elections for Syrians “in foreign embassies” shall be 20 May.
Syrian President Baššār al-Asad has also submitted the documents to be candidates in the presidential elections to the Supreme Constitutional Court.

المحكمة الدستورية العليا في سوريا تعلن تسلمها من مجلس الشعب صندوق التأييدات الخطية للمرشحين للانتخابات الرئاسية، وستدرس طلبات الترشح كافةً وتبتها خلال خمسة أيام
قال رئيس المحكمة الدستورية العليا إن المحكمة تسلمت من مجلس الشعب صندوق التأييدات الخطية للمرشحين للانتخابات الرئاسية. وأضافت أنها ستدرس طلبات الترشح كافةً وتبتّها خلال خمسة أيام
وكان أعضاء مجلس الشعب قد قدموا التأييدات الخطّية إلى المرشحين للانتخابات لمنصب رئيس الجمهورية
وينص قانون الانتخابات العامة على أنه لا يقبل طلب الترشح لمنصب رئيس الجمهورية إلا إذا كان طالب الترشيح حاصلاً على تأييد خطي لترشيحه من قبل 35 عضواً على الأقل من أعضاء مجلس الشعب، ولا يجوز لأي من هؤلاء الأعضاء تأييد أكثر من مرشح واحد
وبدأت عملية تأييد أعضاء مجلس الشعب لمرشحيهم في الانتخابات الرئاسية في الـ20 من الشهر الجاري
وأغلق أمس باب قبول طلبات الترشح في الانتخابات الرئاسية حيث بلغ عدد المتقدمين بطلبات الترشح لمنصب رئيس الجمهورية 51 مترشحاً بينهم 7 سيدات
وكان رئيس مجلس الشعب حموده صباغ قد أعلن فتح باب الترشح للانتخابات الرئاسية، تطبيقاً لأحكام الدستور اعتباراً من يوم الاثنين الـ19 من الشهر الجاري وحتى اليوم الأربعاء
وفي وقت سابق اليوم، وافق مجلس الشعب السوري بالأكثرية على دعوة بعض برلمانات الدول الصديقة لمواكبة عملية انتخاب رئيس سوريا والاطلاع على مجريات سيرها
هذا وحدد مجلس الشعب السوري يوم 26 من أيار/مايو موعداً للانتخابات الرئاسية، وموعد الانتخابات للسوريين “في السفارات في الخارج” في 20 أيار/مايو.
كما وتقدم الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد إلى المحكمة الدستورية العليا بأوراق ترشحه للانتخابات الرئاسية.
