The Turkish media uncovered new details about a spy suspect working for the Emirates holding Palestinian and Jordanian citizenships, called Aḥmad Maḥmūd al-Asṭal. That is after he was recently apprehended by the Turkish National Intelligence Service.

The Turkish “TRT” channel said that the available information confirms the detention of Aḥmad Maḥmūd ‘Āyiš al-Asṭal under charges of spying for the Emirates, as he is an originally Palestinian citizen carrying a Jordanian passport and works on information gathering about all the Arabs opposing the policies of the Emirates and the policies of their own governments.
According to the informations shared by the Turkish channel al-Asṭal lives in Turkey for 7 years and managed to infiltrate one of the research centers run by the Muslim Brotherhood under the pretext that he is an Emirati opposition journalist.
According to the channel, it has become clear that al-Asṭal was sending information to the Emirates about the relations of Turkey all around the world, including the Muslim countries, and was servicing his office in Dubai with information about the Turkish internal and foreign policies. It was also revealed that he was making personal folders about Arab citizens living in Turkey for a monthly salary of some 20 thousand Turkish pounds.
The channel pointed out that it has been proven that al-Asṭal made folders about the July 15 coup attempt, and the probability of another coup attempt.
The channel added: “The Emirati agent al-Asṭal has been apprehended during an operation carried out by the Turkish National Intelligence Service, and the agent has been observed, who was enlisted by a person called Abū ‘Alī. He was also working on publishing statement-making Turkey look ridiculous internationally and was carrying out spying activities”.
According to the information received by TRT World, al-Asṭal was working for the Emirates for 11 years, during which he received $400 thousand.
To keep in touch with the agent, who enlisted him he was using encrypting programs, which he downloaded to his mobile and personal computer, which he received from Emirati intelligence officers. He was receiving monthly $2700 in addition to an amount of $11 thousand paid in one batch before he went to Turkey in 2013.
He was in contact with 4 agents directing him, and they are Abū ‘Alī, Abū Rāšid, Abū Suhayl and Abū Fāris. The inspections concluded that he met Abū ‘Alī (his full name is Sa‘ūd ‘Abd al-‘Azīz Muḥammad ibn Darwīš) in Istanbul in 2016.
Intelligence surveillance.
The Turkish intelligence also observed Abū Suhayl (his full name is Rāšid ‘Abd al-Hāliq Muḥammad aš-Šāra) and believes that he was the first one to enlist al-Asṭal in 2009. The agent got into the circles Abū Fāris is specialized on when he was apprehended in September this year.
The Emirates managed to enlist al-Asṭal by imposing financial pressure upon him, as he suffered from money shortage, and also by threats of revoking the work from him there. After he hesitated for a while for spying for the Emirates he was refused to obtain a work visa, which he applied for, and was left without work.
It is believed that in the end, al-Asṭal agreed in fear of having to return to Jordan, as it would have been difficult for him to find work there.
Before he went to Turkey al-Asṭal worked in spying on members of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Emirates, and sending regular reports by monthly telephone conversations to his office. His cooperation was a major reason for granting him residence in the Emirates.
Previously it was announced that the Turkish intelligence has detained a spy working for the Emirates, as the “Reuters” news agency had reported citing a leading security official – asking to stay anonymous – that the suspect has confessed as the Turkish intelligence has obtained from him “a series of hidden documents”, which prove his connection to the Emirates.

كشفت وسائل إعلام تركية تفاصيل جديدة عن متهم بالتجسس لصالح الإمارات يحمل الجنسيتين الفلسطينية والأردنية، يُدعى أحمد محمود الأسطل، وذلك بعد إلقاء القبض عليه مؤخراً من قبل جهاز الاستخبارات الوطني التركي
وقالت قناة “TRT” التركية، إن المعلومات المتوفرة تؤكد اعتقال أحمد محمود عايش الأسطل، بتهمة التجسس لصالح الإمارات، حيث أنه مواطن من أصل فلسطيني ويحمل جواز سفر أردني، ويعمل على جمع معلومات عن العرب المعارضين لسياسات الإمارات وسياسات أنظمة دولهم
ووفقاً لمعلومات نشرتها القناة التركية، فإن الأسطل يعيش في تركيا منذ 7 سنوات، واستطاع التسلل إلى أحد مراكز الأبحاث التي تديرها جماعة الإخوان المسلمين، بدعوى أنه صحفي معارض للإمارات
وحسب القناة، اتضح أن الأسطل يرسل معلومات إلى الإمارات بخصوص علاقة تركيا بدول العالم، لا سيما الدول الإسلامية، ويمد مديريه في دبي بتفاصيل تخصّ السياسات الداخلية والخارجية لتركيا، كما تبيّن أنه أعد تقارير شخصية عن مواطنين عرب مقيمين في تركيا، مقابل أجر شهري يُقدّر بـ20 ألف ليرة تركية
وأشارت القناة، إلى أنه ثبت أن الأسطل أعد تقارير بخصوص محاولة 15 يوليو/تموز الانقلابية، واحتمالية وقوع محاولات انقلابية أخرى
وأضافت القناة: “أُلقي القبض على العميل الإماراتي الأسطل خلال عملية نفّذها جهاز الاستخبارات الوطني التركي، كما رُصِد العميل الذي جنّده شخص، ويُدعى أبو علي، وكان أيضاً يعمل على نشر بيانات من شأنها إظهار تركيا في موقف حرج دولياً، كما يمارس أنشطة جاسوسية
وفقاً لمعلومات حصلت عليها TRT World، فإن الأسطل عمل لصالح الإمارات على مدار 11 عاماً، تقاضى خلالها أموالاً قيمتها 400 ألف دولار
وكان يستخدم في التواصل مع العميل الذي جنّده برمجيات مشفَّرة جرى تحميلها على جهازي الهاتف والحاسوب اللذين تسلمهما من ضباط المخابرات الإماراتيين، وكان يتقاضى 2700 دولار شهرياً، بالإضافة إلى مبلغ 11 ألف دولار دفعة واحدة قبل قدومه إلى تركيا عام 2013
وكان يتواصل مع 4 عملاء يرأسونه هم أبو علي وأبو راشد وأبو سهيل وأبو فارس وتوصلت التحقيقات إلى أنه التقى أبو علي (واسمه الكامل سعود عبد العزيز محمد بن درويش) في إسطنبول عام 2016
رصد مخابراتي
ورصدت الاستخبارات التركية أيضاً أبو راشد (واسمه الكامل راشد عبد الخالق محمد الشارة)، ويُعتقد أنه أول من جنّد الأسطل عام 2009. وكان العميل يقع في دائرة اختصاص أبو فارس، وقت القبض عليه في سبتمبر/أيلول الماضي
واستطاعت الإمارات تجنيد الأسطل عبر استغلال الضغوط المالية التي يعانيها، وتهديده بسحب تصريح العمل منه هناك. وبعد تردده فترة في التجسس لصالح الإمارات، رُفضت تأشيرة العمل التي كان يُقدّم عليها، وتُرِك بلا عمل
ويُعتقد أن الأسطل وافق في النهاية، بسبب خوفه من العودة إلى الأردن حيث سيكون من الصعب أن يجد عملاً
وقبل توجهه إلى تركيا، عمل الأسطل في التجسس على أعضاء الإخوان المسلمين بالإمارات، وكان يرسل تقارير دورية عبر مكالمات هاتفية شهرية مع مديريه، فكان تعاونه سبباً في منحه إقامة بالإمارات
وفي وقت سابق، أُعلن عن اعتقال المخابرات التركية جاسوساً يعمل لصالح الإمارات، حيث نقلت وكالة “رويترز” عن مسؤول أمني بارز -طلب عدم ذكر اسمه- إن المشتبه به اعترف وحصلت منه المخابرات التركية على “مجموعة من الوثائق المخفية” التي تُظهر صلاته بالإمارات
