Aṣ-Ṣadr says in his speech on Thursday: “Reserving what is left from the homeland, which was burned by the corrupt ones, as they are still burning it; but also saving it, we announce that we will not take part in these elections. The homeland is more important than all these.
He added: “I announce to revoke my hand from those both the current and the upcoming governments. Even if they were to belong to us, the aṣ-Ṣadr family, all of them are either minor, broken, or vaporized by corruption. They are all part of the same setup”.
In its aftermath Deputy Spear of the Iraqi Parliament Ḥasan Karīm al-Ka‘bī announced his withdrawal from the list of next legislative election. According to his expression: “In response to what was in aṣ-Ṣadr‘s speech”.
The next Iraqi legislative elections will be held on 10 October this year. The independent supreme commission for election announced the final number of the election centers and their stations all belonging to the legislative recording centers.
The commission said that it will take the appropriate legal measures against anyone trying to undermine the trust of the voters in the process.

أعلن زعيم التيار الصدري في العراق مقتدى الصدر مقاطعة الانتخابات المقبلة المقرر إجراؤها في 10 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر المقبل
وقال الصدر في كلمة له، اليوم الخميس: “حفاظاً على ما تبقى من الوطن الذي أحرقه الفاسدون وما زالوا يحرقونه، وإنقاذاً له، نعلمكم بأنني لن أشترك في هذه الانتخابات.. فالوطن أهم من كل ذلك
وأضاف: “أعلن سحب يدي من كل المنتمين إلى الحكومة الحالية واللاحقة، وإن كانوا يدّعون الانتماء إلينا آل الصدر، فالجميع إما قاصر وإما مقصر وإما يتبجح بالفساد، والكل تحت طائلة الحساب
وفي إثره، أعلن نائب رئيس البرلمان العراقي حسن كريم الكعبي انسحابه من الترشح للانتخابات النيابية المقبلة، “طاعةً لما ورد في خطاب الصدر”، وفقاً لتعبيره
وتجري الانتخابات التشريعية العراقية في 10 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر المقبل. وأعلنت المفوضية العليا المستقلة للانتخابات تحديدَ الأعداد النهائية لمراكز الاقتراع ومحطاتها التابعة لمراكز التسجيل الانتخابية
