Egypt tries to improve the security situation at the Straits of Bāb al-Mandib, the
gateway to the Suez Channel, which counts to be the lifeline for the Egyptian economy.
The “Intelligence Online” website specialized on strategic affairs cited sources saying that Egypt in late January deployed ten military advisers to ‘Ataq, capital of Šabwa province in Yemen to work on the side of the Southern Yemeni “al-‘Amāliqa Battalions” being supported by the United Arab Emirates.
The website pointed out that by this Cairo shows support for its ally the Emirates after the numerous attacks on its soil in the beginning of 2022. Egypt also tries to improve the security situ at the Straits of Bāb al-Mandib, the gateway to the Suez Channel, which counts to be the lifeline of the Egyptian economy.
The website added that “the primary task of the Egyptian soldiers since they joined the “al-‘Amāliqa Battalions” operation cells was to unite the various factions loyal to government (of ‘Abd Rabbihi Manṣūr Hādī), which is struggles to participate in the operations of the Coalition, including at the strategic city of Ma’rib”. They will also work on gathering forces of the Southern Transitional Council with the battalions led by Ṭāriq Ṣāliḥ”.
The website continued that first of all “the aim of Egypt is to help in improving the security at the Straits of Bāb al-Mandib by setting up capable Yemeni naval forces, which will be Abel to counter the al-Ḥūtī (Anṣār Allah) lines in these waters”. It pointed out that the Saudi intelligence claimed that “the militias loyal to Iran claimed that they launched naval operations by the use of underwater explosives and small exploding boats. Egypt is quite worried about these warnings to send a military intelligence unit delegation to discuss the situation with the al-Ḥūtīs (Anṣār Allah) last November. At the end these efforts have been confirmed to be under development when the al-Ḥūtī fighters detained the ship under the flag of the United Arab Emirates on 3 January”.

نقل موقع “إنتلجنس أونلاين” المختص بالشؤون الاستخبارية عن مصادره قولها إن مصر نشرت أواخر كانون الثاني / يناير الماضي عشرة خبراء عسكريين في عتق عاصمة محافظة شبوة في اليمن للعمل إلى جانب “ألوية العمالقة” اليمنية الجنوبية المدعومة من دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
وأشار الموقع إلى أن القاهرة تُظهر من خلال ذلك دعمها لحليفتها الإمارات بعد هجمات عدة على أراضيها في بداية العام 2022. كما تحاول مصر تحسين الوضع الأمني في مضيق باب المندب البوابة الى قناة السويس التي تعد شريان الحياة للاقتصاد المصري.
وأضاف الموقع أن “المهمة الأولى للجنود المصريين منذ انضمامهم لخلية عمليات “ألوية العمالقة” كانت توحيد الفصائل المتفرقة الموالية للحكومة (حكومة عبد ربه منصور هادي) التي أضر انتشارها بعمليات التحالف لا سيما في مدينة مأرب الاستراتيجية. كما سيعملون على جمع قوات المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي مع الكتائب التي يقودها طارق صالح”.
وتابع الموقع إنه قبل كل شيء، “فإن هدف مصر هو المساعدة في تحسين الأمن في مضيق باب المندب من خلال إنشاء البحرية اليمنية الناشئة والمجهزة بشكل مناسب والتي ستكون قادرة على مواجهة خطط الحوثيين (أنصار الله) في هذه المياه”. وأشار إلى أن المخابرات السعودية زعت بأن “الميليشيات الموالية لإيران تعتزم شن عمليات بحرية باستخدام متفجرات تحت الماء وزوارق صغيرة مفخخة. وكانت مصر قلقة بما يكفي من هذه التحذيرات لإرسال وفد من وحدة المخابرات العسكرية التابعة لها لمناقشة الوضع مع الحوثيين (أنصار الله) في تشرين الثاني / نوفمبر من العام الماضي. في النهاية أثبتت هذه الجهود أنها ذهبت سدى عندما احتجز مقاتلو الحوثي على السفينة التي ترفع علم الإمارات العربية المتحدة في 3 كانون الثاني / يناير الماضي”.
