The Emirates foiled a Gulf agreement to solve the crisis with Qatar with American mediation, and asked in the last second to stop the American initiative, according to what was revealed by the American “Fox News” channel… What lies in the details?
The American “Fox News” channel revealed that the state of the Emirates foiled last week a Gulf agreement to solve the crisis with Qatar with American mediation.
The channel brought it into attention that the agreement was suggested after several meetings between high ranking officials from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Emirates, and the United States, but the Emirates changed its position in the last second and asked Saudi Arabia to stop the American initiative to solve the crisis.
According to the sources some two months ago “with Washington taking its role as an intermediary, took positive negotiations and Saudi Arabia expressed readiness to points of the solution, which was lead by the United States. Than American President Donald Trump ordered high ranking officials in the administration to draft a deal acceptable to all sides”.
The sources added that “after a chain of high-level meetings between prominent leaders in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Emirates, and the United States an agreement to end the siege seemed to be reached last week, but Abū Zabī in the last second changed its course and asked from Saudi Arabia to stop supporting the initiative, which the United States was backing”.
The network said that the agreement in case finalized was “about to be a political victory for President Trump before the presidential elections next November”. And that “it is time to unite the Gulf Cooperation Council” pointing out that solution of the Gulf crisis is within protecting the American interest in the Middle East”, according to Fox News.
The channel cited a national security analyst and director of the IRIS institute “Ribera Grant” saying: “if President Trump and State Secretary Mike Pompeo managed to solve the crisis between the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council that would have been a diplomatic victory, and one of the few victories he could achieve before the elections in November”.
According to the analyst the “siege imposed three years ago upon Qatar by the Gulf states has to be ceased, considering that this is the trajectory of the region to unite against he continuing threat by Iran”.
The Gulf crisis has entered into its fourth year on 5 June 2020, which started when Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain, in addition to Egypt, broke their diplomatic relations with Qatar before they laid an economic siege upon it.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the Emirates, and Egypt all broke their diplomatic ties with the state of Qatar, and the Saudi Coalition against Yemen announced to end its [Qatar’s] participation in the war on Yemen, all claiming accusations against Doha that it is sheltering terrorism and undermines the stability in the region, and does not support the Riyadh agreement.
During the crisis, the boycotting states presented a list consisting of 13 demands from Qatar. These demands contained the closure of the al-Jazeera satellite channel, closing the Turkish military base and reducing the ties with Iran. The American State Secretary at that time “Rex Tillerson” considered these demands as “very hard to meet”.
Qatari Foreign Minister aš-Šayh Muḥammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ar-Raḥmān Āl Tānī on 15 December called to revise “the formation and the planning” of the alliance between the Gulf states embodied in the Cooperation Council because of the crisis, which harm the relations between these states.

الإمارات تفشل اتفاقاً خليجياً لحل الأزمة مع قطر بوساطة أميركية، وتطلب في اللحظة الأخيرة وقف المقترح الأميركي، وفق ما تكشف قناة “فوكس نيوز” الأميركية.. فماذا في التفاصيل؟
كشفت قناة “فوكس نيوز” الأميركية أن دولة الإمارات أفشلت الأسبوع الماضي اتفاقاً خليجياً لحل الأزمة مع قطر بوساطة أميركية
القناة لفتت إلى أن الاتفاق كان متاحاً بعد اجتماعات بين مسؤولين كبار من السعودية وقطر والإمارات والولايات المتحدة، لكن الإمارات غيّرت موقفها في اللحظة الأخيرة، وطلبت من السعودية وقف مقترح أميركي لحل الأزمة
ووفق المصادر فإنه قبل نحو شهرين، “ومع قيام واشنطن بدور الوسيط، اتخذت المناقشات منعطفاً إيجابياً عندما أبدت السعودية استعداداً لقبول عناصر من الحل الذي تقوده الولايات المتحدة. ثم كلّف الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب كبار المسؤولين في الإدارة بصياغة صفقة مقبولة لجميع الأطراف
وأضافت المصادر أنه “بعد سلسلة من المناقشات رفيعة المستوى بين كبار القادة من السعودية وقطر والإمارات والولايات المتحدة، يبدو أن اتفاقاً لإنهاء الحصار كان قد تمّ التوصل إليه في الأسبوع الماضي، لكن أبو ظبي، في اللحظة الأخيرة، غيّرت مسارها وطلبت من السعودية وقف دعم الاقتراح الذي تدعمه الولايات المتحدة
وقالت الشبكة، إن الاتفاق، حال إتمامه، كان “سيمثّل انتصاراً سياسياً للرئيس ترامب قبل انتخابات تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر المقبل”، وأنه “حان الوقت لأن يتحد مجلس التعاون الخليجي”، مشيرةً إلى أن حل الأزمة الخليجية يصبّ في حماية المصالح الأميركية في الشرق الأوسط”، وفق فوكس نيوز
ونقلت القناة عن محللة الأمن القومي ورئيسة مؤسسة IRIS للأبحاث “ريبيكا جرانت”، قولها: “إذا تمكّن الرئيس ترامب ووزير الخارجية مايك بومبيو من إنهاء الخلاف بين دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، فسيكون ذلك انتصاراً دبلوماسياً، وواحد من الانتصارات القليلة التي يمكن الوصول إليهم قبل انتخابات تشرين الثاني/ نوفمبر
ووفقاً لمحللين، فإن “الحصار المفروض منذ ثلاث سنوات على قطر من قبل الدول الخليجية يجب أن يُسقط، باعتبار ذلك مساراً للمنطقة للتضامن ضد التهديد المستمر من إيران
ودخلت الأزمة الخليجية، عامها الرابع في 5 حزيران/يونيو 2020، والتي بدأت حين قطعت السعودية والإمارات والبحرين، إضافة إلى مصر، علاقاتها الدبلوماسية مع قطر، قبل أن تفرض حصاراً اقتصادياً عليها
وأعلنت كل من السعودية والبحرين والإمارات ومصر قطع علاقاتها الدبلوماسية مع دولة قطر، كما أعلن التحالف السعودي ضد اليمن إنهاء مشاركتها في الحرب على اليمن، موجهين الاتهامات إلى الدوحة برعاية الإرهاب وضرب الاستقرار بالمنطقة وعدم تنفيذ اتفاق الرياض
وقدمت دول الحصار إبّان الأزمة قائمة تضم 13 مطلباً من قطر، وشملت هذه المطالب إغلاق قناة الجزيرة الفضائية، وإغلاق قاعدة عسكرية تركية وتقليص العلاقات مع إيران، وهي مطالب اعتبرها وزير الخارجية الأميركي السابق ريكس تيلرسون ” وقتها إنها “|من الصعب جداً تلبيتها
ودعا وزير خارجية قطر الشيخ محمد بن عبد الرحمن آل ثاني في 15 كانون الاول/ديسمبر إلى إعادة “تشكيل وتصميم” التحالف بين دول الخليج المستند إلى مجلس التعاون، بسبب الأزمة التي تعصف بالعلاقات بين هذه الدول
