The Pakistani Foreign Minister confirms that the ceasefire with Afghanistan is still holding as long as no attack happens from the Afghan lands.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Hawāğa Moḥammad Āṣif confirmed that the ceasefire agreement between his country and Afghanistan “is lasting, as long as there is no any attack from the Afghan lands”. At the same time the Reuters agency announced that the ongoing talks in Istanbul between the two sides have collapsed disagreements about the details of the implementation of the ceasefire and the combat against terrorism.
Official spokesman of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry Ambassador Ṭāhir Ḥussayn Andarbī explained that the Pakistani delegation during the Istanbul talks handed over its request supported by evidences to the mediators to put an end to what it described as “cross border terrorism”m pointing out that the mediators “are supporting the position of Pakistan and are discussing it with the Afghan Ṭālebān point by point” without issuing a final comment about the results of the current round.
Andarbī added that the ceasefire was the core point of the third round of the negotiations that were hosted by the Turkish city of Istanbul, confirming that the continuation of the previous agreement about the ceasefire and discussing the details of its implementation is on the level of the high officials.
The spokesman also denied the presence of members of the “Dā‘iš” Organization on Pakistani lands, expressing that the claims issued by the Afghan side are “lies”, underlining that “Pakistan is the victim of terrorism” at a time when it described by the statements of the Afghan government officials about the matter as “untrue”.
This turn came after two former rounds held in October, during which the ceasefire signed in Doha was agreement was extended amidst mutual blaming between the two states concerning the support for the armed groups. Islamabad accuses the Afghan government with providing shelter to the Pakistani Ṭālebān Movement. The last few months have witnessed bloody border clashes between the two sides leading to the death of dozens. This pushed both sides to enter into decisive peace negotiations in Istanbul. The goal of these was to achieve a ceasefire that ended the circle of violence that had lasted for weeks.

أكد وزير الدفاع الباكستاني، خواجة محمد آصف، أن اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار بين. بلاده وأفغانستان “صامد طالما لم يحدث أي هجوم من الأراضي الأفغانية”، في وقتٍ أعلنت فيه. وكالة “رويترز” عن انهيار المحادثات الجارية في إسطنبول بين. الجانبين بعد خلافات بشأن تفاصيل تنفيذ الهدنة ومكافحة الإرهاب.
وأوضح المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الباكستانية، السفير طاهر حسين. أندرابي، أن الوفد الباكستاني قدّم خلال محادثات. إسطنبول مطالبه المدعومة بالأدلة إلى الوسطاء من أجل وضع حدٍّ لما وصفه. بـ”الإرهاب العابر للحدود”، مشيراً إلى أن الوسطاء “يؤيدون. موقف باكستان ويبحثونه مع وفد طالبان الأفغاني بنداً بنداً”، من دون. صدور تعليق نهائي حول نتائج الجولة الحالية.
وأضاف أندرابي أن وقف إطلاق النار كان المحور الأساس في الجولة الثالثة من المفاوضات. التي استضافتها مدينة إسطنبول التركية، مؤكّداً استمرار الاتفاق السابق على الهدنة ومناقشة تفاصيل. تطبيقها على مستوى كبار المسؤولين.
كما نفى المتحدث وجود عناصر من تنظيم “داعش” في الأراضي الباكستانية، معتبراً أن الادعاءات. الصادرة من الجانب الأفغاني “كاذبة”، ومشدّداً على أن “باكستان ضحية للإرهاب”، في حين وصف. تصريحات الحكومة الأفغانية حول هذا الملف بأنها “غير صحيحة”.
