“Petra” official Jordanian news agency reports that the security agencies in Jordan have detained former prominent officials for security reasons, while the “Washington Post,” says that the detentions came as a result of a plan to depose King ‘Abd Allah.
Today, on Saturday Jordan announced that the former director of the royal court and other officials were detained “for security reasons”.
The “Petra” official Jordanian news agency confined to mention the name “aš-Šarīf [here a distinct royal title] Ḥasan ibn Zayd, and former director of the royal court, Ibrāhīm ‘Awaḍ Allah”.
On its right, the “Washington Post” newspaper mentioned that the authorities subjected Queen Nūr and her heir, former Crown Prince Ḥamza ibn al-Ḥasan to house arrest, while insightful sources to the “Petra” news agency confirmed that Prince Ḥamza “is not under house confinement, nor is he detained, as it is circulated in the media”.
The American newspaper citing intelligence sources added that: “the arrests came as a result of a conspiracy plan to depose King ‘Abd Allah”.
According to an intelligence official: “another individual from the royal family is implicated in the plan, aside from tribal leaders and security officials”, saying that: “It hasn’t been made clear what they were planning to do exactly”. The official described that plan as it was “well organized”, explaining that “the suspects might have foreign connections”.
The “Washington Post” also cited officials at the Jordanian royal palace their description by “conspiracy”, which included “leaders of tribes and officials in the security services”.
The Jordanian General Staff: There is no validity what was published about the detention of Prince Ḥamza
At the same time, the General Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces and the of the security services issued a statement saying in it that: “there is no validity to was published about the claims on the detention of Prince Ḥamza”, pointing out that “the latter was asked to cease movement and activities targeting the security of Jordan”.
In the Jordanian statement, it was written: “what was asked of Prince Ḥamza was in the context of general joint investigations started by the security agencies”, thus confirming that “the investigations are ongoing and their results will be revealed with all transparency and openness”
The statement continued saying that: “all measures taken came within the boundaries of the law and after precise investigations taken”. Thus saying that “no one is above the law, the security of Jordan, its stability and their course under any consideration”.
Commenting all that Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council [GCC] announced his position “beside Jordan and all its measures to preserve the security and the stability”.
In its own terms, the American State Department expressed “its full support” for King ‘Abd Allah saying that he is “a prime partner of the United States”. Also, it confirmed that it “closely follows the reports and is in constant connection with the officials in Jordan.
Also, Egypt announced its “full solidarity and its support for the Jordanian monarch King II. ‘Abd Allah, and for preserving the security and stability of the kingdom against any attempt to undermine them”. This came in a statement by the Egyptian presidency”.
The Egyptian statement confirmed that “the security and the stability of brotherly Jordan is the inseparable part of the Egyptian and the Arab national security”.

واكتفت وكالة الأنباء الأردنيّة الرسميّة “بترا”، بإيراد اسم “الشريف حسن بن زيد، ورئيس الديوان الملكي الأسبق، إبراهيم عوض الله
من جهتها، ذكرت صحيفة “واشنطن بوست” أن السلطات أخضعت الملكة نور ونجلها وليّ العهد السابق، الأمير حمزة بن الحسين، للإقامة الجبرية، فيما أكّد مصدر مطّلع لوكالة “بترا” أن الأمير حمزة “ليس قيد الإقامة المنزلية ولا موقوفاً كما يتداول بعض وسائل الإعلام
وأضافت الصحيفة الأميركية نقلاً عن مسؤول استخباراتي، أن “الاعتقالات جاءت على خلفية التخطيط لمؤامرة لإطاحة الملك عبد الله
ووفقاً للمسؤول الاستخباري: “فرد آخر من أفراد العائلة المالكة متورط في المخطط إلى جانب قادة عشائر وضباط أمن”، قائلاً إنه “لم يتضح ما الذي خططوا لفعله بالضبط”. ووصف المسؤول الخطة بأنها “منظمة جيداً”، موضحاً أن “المتهمين ربما لديهم علاقات خارجية
كما نقلت “واشنطن بوست” عن مسؤولين بالقصر الملكي الأردني، إن ما وصفوه بـ”المؤامرة” ضمت كذلك “زعماء قبائل ومسؤولين بأجهزة أمنية
القيادة العامة الأردنية: لا صحة لما نشر حول اعتقال الأمير حمزة
بالتزامن، أصدرت القيادة العامة للقوات المسلحة الأردنية والأجهزة الأمنية بياناً، قالت فيه إنه “لا صحة لما نشر من ادعاءات حول اعتقال الأمير حمزة”، مشيرةً إلى أنه “طُلب من الأخير التوقف عن تحركات ونشاطات توظف لاستهداف أمن الأردن
وجاء في البيان الأردني، أنه “ما طلب من الأمير حمزة جاء في إطار تحقيقات شاملة مشتركة قامت بها الأجهزة الأمنية”، مؤكداً أن “التحقيقات مستمرة وسيتم الكشف عن نتائجها بكل شفافية ووضوح
كما تابع البيان، أن “كل الإجراءات التي اتخذت تمت في إطار القانون وبعد تحقيقات حثيثة استدعتها”، قائلاً إنه “لا أحد فوق القانون وأمن الأردن واستقراره يتقدمان على أيّ اعتبار
وتعليقاً على ذلك، أعلن الأمين العام لمجلس التعاون الخليجي وقوفه “إلى جانب الأردن وجميع إجراءاته للحفاظ على الأمن والاستقرار
من جهتها، عبرت الخارجية الأميركية عن “دعمها الكامل” للملك عبد الله، قائلةً إنه “شريك رئيسي للولايات المتحدة”. كذلك، أكدت أنها “تتابع عن كثب التقارير وعلى اتصال مستمر مع المسؤولين في الأردن
كذلك، أعلنت مصر عن “تضامنها الكامل ودعمها للعاهل الأردنى الملك عبد الله الثاني والحفاظ على أمن واستقرار المملكة ضد أى محاولات للنيل منهما”، جاء ذلك في بيان للرئاسة المصرية
وأكد البيان المصري أن “أمن واستقرار الأردن الشقيق هو جزء لا يتجزء من الأمن القومي المصري والعربي
