During the hand-over operation of the American wing of the al-Qā’im military position at the Syrian-Iraqi border an American “AN/TPQ-53” radar appeared, which recently entered into service in the American army.
In a noticeable way a picture appeared of an American “AN/TPQ-53” radar during the hand-over operation of the American wing of the al-Qā’im military position at the Iraqi-Syrian border, within the operation of limitation the American forces have started some time ago.
What is noticeable about the presence of these kind of American radars is its features it has. The AN/TPQ-53 radar is an active electronic scan radar, considered to be a midrange one, and recently entered into service in the American army.
The mentioned radar is primarily specialized to reveal areal threats and give early warning of projectile grenades, as it defines the markings, the trajectories and the positions of the un-targeted projectiles, like rockets, artillery shells and mortar fuzes, additionally to reveling drones and traditional planes.
The AN/TPQ-53 radar operates in two search methods on 360, or 90 degrees, and its range reaches 60 kilometers on the 90 degrees method.
The Americans radar is of light weight fixed on “Oshkosh M1083” tactical vehicles, which provides it with a capability of fast movement and deployment. Therefore the radar can be deployed and put into operation in only 5 minutes, and can be hooked up with the short-ranged “C-RAM” air defense system applied against traditional rockets, like the “Katyusha”, artillery, or howitzer shells.
The American army started to deploy AN/TPQ-53 radars next to other systems in its positions within military bases and in Iraqi camps to thwart areal projectiles after the increase of threats, which targets their presence in Iraq.
It should be mentioned that the American Coalition pulled out of al-Qā’im and handed over its properties to the Iraqi forces.
The Joint Operations Headquarters belonging to the Coalition in a statement issued on 18 this March said that it held ceremony to hand over the base to the Iraqi forces, where the American General Vincent Parker, Director of Support Forces Affaires also took part.

خلال عملية تسليم الجناح الأميركي في موقع القائم العسكري عند الحدود العراقية-السورية، ظهر الرادار الأميركي “AN/TPQ-53″، الذي أدخل حديثاً إلى الخدمة في الجيش الاميركي
برز بشكلٍ لافت صورة للرادار الأميركي “AN/TPQ-53″، وذلك خلال عملية تسليم الجناح الأميركي في موقع القائم العسكري عند الحدود العراقية-السورية، ضمن عملية إعادة التموضع التي بدأتها القوات الأميركية في العراق منذ مدّة
اللافت في وجود هذا النوع من الرادارات الأميركية هناك، هو المزايا التي يتمتع بها، إذ إن رادار AN/TPQ-53 هو رادار مسح إلكتروني نشط، يعتبر متوسط المدى، وأدخل حديثاً للخدمة في الجيش الأميركي
الرادار المذكور مُخصص بشكل أساسي لكشف التهديدات الجوية والتحذير المبكر من القذائف، حيث يقوم بتحديد بيانات ومسارات ومواقع إطلاق القذائف غير الموجهة كالصواريخ الحرة وقذائف المدافع وقنابر الهاون، بالإضافة لكشف الطائرات بدون طيار والطائرات المأهولة
ويعمل رادار AN/TPQ-53 بأسلوبين للبحث، 360 أو 90 درجة، حيث يبلغ مداه 60 كم في أسلوب 90 درجة
الرادار الأميركي خفيف الوزن مثبت على شاحنات “أوشكش M1083″، التي أتاحت له قدرة على المرونة والتنقل بسرعة، حيث يمكن نشر الرادار وتفعيله في 5 دقائق فقط، ويمكن ربطه بمنظوم “C-RAM” للدفاع الجوي قصيرة المدى المضادة للمقذوفات التقليدية كـ”الكاتيوشا” وقذائف المدافع و”الهاون
وقام الجيش الأميركي بنشر رادار AN/TPQ-53 بجانب أنظمة أخرى في مواقع وجوده داخل القواعد والمعسكرات العراقية لمكافحة المقذوفات الجوية بعد زيادة التهديدات التي تستهدف وجوده في العراق
يذكر أن قوات التحالف الأميركي انسحبت من القائم وسلمت منشآتها للقوات العراقية
