The Algerian presidency after a meeting with the country’s Supreme Security Council announces that it decided to close its airspace immediately for Moroccan civilian and military planes.
The Algerian presidency announced on Wednesday that the Supreme Security Council in the country decided to “immediately close the Algerian airspace for Moroccan civilian and military planes”.
The presidency in a statement announced that the decision came in context of “continued provocations and acts of animosity by the Moroccan side”.
This decision came after Algerian President ‘Abd al-Mağīd Tabbūn presided over a meeting of the Supreme Security Council, which was dedicated to studying the developments of the border with Morocco.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ramṭān La‘māmara have said to the American CNN channel that “the recent acts of animosity by Morocco towards Algeria was the reason for cutting the relations of his country with the kingdom”.
He pointed out that “Algeria was patient beyond normal confronting all the action Morocco committed against our sovereignty and unity”.
On 24 August Algerian Foreign Minister Ramṭān La‘māmara announced his country is cutting diplomatic relations with Morocco, confirming that it rejects “the logic of the current status and rejects the threatening policies by Morocco”. Thus holding the Moroccan leadership for creating crises which are growing between Algeria and Morocco.
3 days following this Morocco responded to the Algerian step by closing its embassy in the Algerian capital.

الرئاسة الجزائرية تعلن بعد اجتماعٍ مع المجلس الأعلى للأمن في البلاد أنها قررت إغلاق مجالها الجوي أمام الطيران المدني والعسكري المغربي على الفور.
أعلنت الرئاسة الجزائرية، اليوم الأربعاء، أنَّ المجلس الأعلى للأمن في البلاد قرَّر “إغلاق المجال الجوي الجزائري أمام الطيران المدني والعسكري المغربي على الفور”.
وقالت الرئاسة في بيانها إنَّ القرار يأتي في ظلِّ “استمرار الاستفزازات والممارسات العدائية من الجانب المغربي”.
وأتى هذا القرار بعد أن ترأس الرئيس الجزائري، عبد المجيد تبون، اجتماعاً للمجلس الأعلى للأمن، خُصِّص لدراسة التطورات على الحدود مع المغرب.
وكان وزير الخارجية الجزائري رمطان لعمامرة قد قال في حديث إلى شبكة “CNN” الأميركية إنَّ “الأعمال العدائية الأخيرة للمغرب تجاه الجزائر كانت السبب في قطع علاقات بلاده مع المملكة”.
ولفت إلى أن “الجزائر كانت صبورة بشكل غير عادي في مواجهة كل الأفعال التي ارتكبها المغرب ضد سيادتها ووحدتها”.
وفي الـ24 من آب/أغسطس الماضي، أعلن وزير الخارجية الجزائري، رمطان لعمامرة، قطع بلاده العلاقات الدبلوماسية مع المغرب، مؤكداً أنها ترفض “منطق الأمر الواقع وترفض السياسيات الأحادية للمغرب”، محمّلاً قادة المملكة المغربية وزر الأزمات التي تتزايد بين الجزائر والمغرب.
وبعدها بـ 3 أيام ردّ المغرب على الإجراء الجزائري بإغلاق سفارته في العاصمة الجزائرية.
