In the context of his speech about he preparations for the elections that the Kurdish Workers Party is about to take in Northern Syria Güler stresses that this “will have negative effects on the peace and calm in the region”. He said that “we shall not allow a status quo against out national security and territorial integrity of our neighbors”.
The Turkish Defense Minister confirmed that his country is prepared for giving all possible support to adopt a comprehensive constitution in Syria, to hold free elections and to secure a comprehensive rapprochement and a safe environment.
The statements of the Turkish Minister came on the margins of the “Efes-2024” military exercises, which are one of the biggest military exercises taken by the Turkish armed forces. These had started on 25 April in the Province of Izmir in Western Türkiye and had lasted until 30 May.
These statements came in the context of Turkish political rapprochement after years of dwindling relations between the two countries after Ankara stood by the side of the armed organizations fighting against the Syrian states with the beginning of the events in 2011. However, Syrian President Baššār al-Asad had confirmed that the withdrawal of the Turkish troops from Syria is a necessary condition for the normalization of relations between Damascus and Ankara.

وفي إطار حديثه عن التحضيرات الانتخابية التي يقوم بها حزب العمال الكردستاني في شمالي. سوريا، شدّد غولر على أن ذلك “ستكون له آثار سلبية في السلام والهدوء في. المنطقة”، وقال “لن نسمح بأمر واقع ضد أمننا القومي، وسلامة أراضي جيراننا”.
