The Tunisian ambassador to Moscow talks about a nearby visit by President Qays Sa‘īd to Russia, on any occasion linked to the space mission.
A Tunisian diplomatic source revealed on Thursday that there is an intention to organize a visit by President Qays Sa‘īd to Moscow at the soonest possible time.
In detail, the Tunisian ambassador in Moscow, Ṭāriq ibn Sālim said in a statement to the Russian “Sputnik” agency: “We are currently working on setting up a visit for the Tunisian president to Russia in the soonest time possible”.
He added that it is likely that this visit will happen on the occasion that a Tunisian Space Lieutenant takes part in a mission that will be launched from Russia to the international space station, thought without mentioning exact dates.
This visit comes at a time when America and the European states try to pressure international isolation upon Russia for the military mission in Ukraine.
The relations between the former Soviet Union and Tunisia were established in July 1956. The first meeting in the history of the Russian-Tunisian relations happened between the Russian and the Tunisian presidents on the side of the millennial summit in New York in 2000.
In May 2001 and April 2002 happened the first visits by the Russian and Tunisian Foreign Ministers in the history of Russian-Tunisian relations were both for Tunisia and Russia respectively.
On 13 August last year, the Tunisian “Telnet” private group signed an agreement with the Russian Space Agency to train a Tunisian space lieutenant and send her to the Russian-International “ISS” space station at the end of 2022, or at the beginning of 2023.

سفير تونس لدى موسكو يتحدث عن زيارة قريبة للرئيس التونسي قيس سعيّد لروسيا، بمناسبة متعلقة بمهمة فضاء
كشف مصدر دبلوماسي تونسي، أمس الخميس، عن وجود مساعٍ لتنظيم زيارة للرئيس قيس سعيّد لموسكو في أقرب وقت ممكن.
وفي التفاصيل، قال السفير التونسي لدى موسكو طارق بن سالم في تصريحات لوكالة “سبوتنيك” الروسية: “نحن نعمل الآن على ضمان زيارة الرئيس التونسي لروسيا في أقرب وقت ممكن”.
وأضاف أنّ من المحتمل أن تتم هذه الزيارة بمناسبة مشاركة مرتقبة لرائدة فضاء تونسية في مهمة ستنطلق من روسيا إلى محطة الفضاء الدولية، من دون ذكر تواريخ محددة.
تأتي الزيارة في وقت تحاول أميركا والدول الأوروبية فرض عزلة دولية على روسيا، على خلفية العملية العسكرية في أوكرانيا.
وأقيمت العلاقات بين الاتحاد السوفياتي السابق وتونس في تموز/يوليو 1956. وعُقد أول لقاء في تاريخ العلاقات الروسية التونسية بين رئيسي روسيا وتونس على هامش مؤتمر قمة الألفية الذي عُقد في نيويورك في العام 2000.
وفي أيار/مايو 2001 ونيسان/أبريل 2002، تمت أول زيارتين لوزيري الخارجية الروسي والتونسي في تاريخ العلاقات الروسية التونسية إلى كل من تونس وموسكو.
وفي 13 آب/أغسطس الماضي، وقّع مجمع “تلنات” التونسي الخاص اتفاقاً مع وكالة الفضاء الروسية، لتدريب رائدة فضاء تونسية وإرسالها إلى المحطة الروسية الدولية “آي إس إس” في أواخر العام 2022 أو بداية العام 2023
