The two leaders of the Sudanese conflict arrive in Saudi Arabia in a step that is seen towards starting a new track for the negotiations to end the ongoing war between the two, all under the supervision of the Saudi Crown Prince. Thus according to what the London-based “al-Arab” newspaper has revealed.

The London-based “al-Arab” newspaper revealed an imminent agreement between the Commander of the Sudanese Army ‘Abd al-Fattāḥ al-Burhān and Commander of the Rapid Support Forces Muḥammad Ḥamdān Daqalū “Ḥamīdtī” under the supervision of Saudi Crown Prince Muḥammad ibn Salmān.
About the details, the newspaper explained that the Saudi Crown Prince is supervising the negotiations between the Commander of the Sudanese Army and the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces and these include a ceasefire agreement and a new political roadmap to end the ongoing war in Sudan.
The al-Arab stated that is has knowledge from an insightful Sudanese source that al-Burhān and Ḥamīdtī “have arrived in the late hours of yesterday [Wednesday] night to Saudi Arabia”, expressing that this step indicates a new path of negotiations.
This unannounced visit which is happening amidst measures of Saudi-Sudanese secrecy, comes after the negotiations in Jidda have stopped. Those took place in May by Saudi-American incentives. On those. On those several times a ceasefire was achieved, only to rapidly collapse by the exchange of bombardments by both sides, while they exchanged accusations that the other side violated the agreements.
It should be pointed out that Commander of the Army and the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces haven’t planned to meet directly since the still ongoing armed conflict broke out on 15 April, as the short series of negotiations hosted by the city of Jidda was led by their representatives.
It is still unclear whether the two generals and former partners in running the transitional rule would engage in direct negotiations supervised by the Saudi Crown Prince, or the talks would be indirect.
It should be pointed out that the Commander of the Sudanese Army had announced on Monday that he is open to negotiations with the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, explained in an interview with the British BBC network that he will have a meeting with Ḥamīdtī if he pledges to defend the civilians. That has been pledged by both sides during the negotiations that took place in the city of Jidda in Saudi Arabia.
On his behalf, the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces had confirmed on 21 September in his recorded speech to the UN General Assembly that his forces are absolutely ready for a ceasefire and to engage in comprehensive political negotiations to end the conflict with the Army.

كشفت صحيفة “العرب” اللندنية عن اتفاقٍ مُرتقب بين قائد الجيش السوداني، عبد الفتاح البرهان، وقائد قوات الدعم السريع، محمد حمدان دقلو “حميدتي”، برعاية ولي العهد السعودي، محمد بن سلمان.
وفي التفاصيل، أوضحت الصحيفة أنّ ولي العهد السعودي يرعى مفاوضاتٍ بين قائدي الجيش السوداني وقوات الدعم السريع، تشمل وقفاً لإطلاق النار وخارطة طريقٍ سياسية جديدة لإنهاء الحرب الدائرة في السودان.
وأعلنت “العرب” علمها، مِن مصدرٍ سوداني مُطّلع، أنّ البرهان وحميدتي “وصلا في وقتٍ متأخر الليلة الماضية إلى السعودية”، مُعتبرةً ذلك خطوةً تشير إلى مسار مفاوضاتٍ جديدة.
وتأتي الزيارة غير المعلنة، والتي يتضح إجراؤها وسط تكتمٍ سعودي- سوداني، بعد فترةٍ من توقف مفاوضات جدّة، التي جرت في شهر مايو/أيار الماضي، بدفعٍ سعودي- أميركي، وتمّ التوصل خلالها في أكثر من مناسبة إلى اتفاقٍ هش لوقف إطلاق النار، كان سرعان ما ينهار على وقع تبادلٍ للقصف بين الجانبين، إضافةً إلى تبادلٍ للاتهامات بخرق الاتفاقات.
يُشار إلى أنّه لم يسبق لقائدي الجيش والدعم السريع أن التقيا مباشرةً منذ اندلاع النزاع المسلح المستمر في السودان، في 15 نيسان/أبريل الماضي، حيث اقتصرت جولات المفاوضات التي استضافتها مدينة جدّة على ممثلين عنهما.
وليس واضحاً بعد ما إذا كان الجنرالان والشريكان السابقان في إدارة الحكم الانتقالي، سيعقدان مباحثاتٍ مباشرة برعاية ولي العهد السعودي، أم ستكون المباحثات غير مباشرة.
يُذكر أنّ قائد الجيش السوداني أعلن، الأحد، استعداده للتفاوض مع قائد قوات الدعم السريع، موضحاً في مقابلةٍ مع شبكة “بي بي سي” البريطانية، أنّه سيجري لقاءً مع “حميدتي” في حال التزامه بحماية المدنيين، وهو ما تعهد به الطرفان خلال المحادثات التي عُقدت في مدينة جدّة السعودية.
بدوره، أكّد قائد قوات الدعم السريع، في 21 أيلول/سبتمبر الجاري، في كلمةٍ مسجلة إلى الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، أنّ قواته على استعداد تام لوقف إطلاق النار، والدخول في محادثات سياسية شاملة لإنهاء الصراع مع الجيش
