The occupying International Coalition lead by the United States withdrew from the strategic “al-Qā’im Base” situating along the border between Syria and Iraq, and was handed over to the Iraqi Army. That is according to the so called Headquarters of the Joint Operations belonging to the Coalition.

The “Headquarters of the Joint Operations” said in a statement that it held an official ceremony to hand over the base to the Iraqi Forces with the participation of the director of the Supporting Forces Affairs, the American General Vincent Parker.
Parker in his words said during the ceremony claimed that the “al-Qā’im Base” contributed “as a lifeline place in the war against Dā‘iš and after as an important base during the battle of al-Bāġūz (in Syria), the last place, which was under Dā‘iš control”, according to his words. This handover to the Iraqi forces came only hours after a new missile attack targeted an Iraqi base in which there were foreign occupying forces. And that is the twenty fourth similar attack during the last 6 months.
Previously the American Defense Department announced that it will withdraw from the “al-Qā’im Base” within weeks, additionally to the last two remaining bases in Iraq.

انسحبت قوات التحالف الدولي المحتلة بقيادة الولايات المتحدة من “قاعدة القائم” الاستراتيجية الواقعة على حدود العراق مع سوريا، وسلمتها للجيش العراقي، وذلك بحسب ما يُسمى غرفة العمليات المشتركة التابعة للتحالف
وقالت “غرفة العمليات المشتركة” في بيان، إنها أقامت مراسم رسمية لتسليم القاعدة إلى القوات العراقية، بمشاركة مدير شؤون قوات الدعم، الفريق الأمريكي، فينسنت باركر
وزعم باركر، في كلمة ألقاها خلال مراسم تسليم القاعدة، أن “قاعدة القائم” ساهمت”كموقع حيوي في الحرب على داعش، ولاحقا كقاعدة مهمة خلال معركة الباغوز (في سوريا)، الأراضي الأخيرة التي كانت تحت سيطرة داعش”، حسب قوله. وجاء تسليم هذا الموقع للقوات العراقية بعد ساعات من هجوم صاروخي جديد استهدف قاعدة عراقية تنتشر فيها قوات أجنبية محتلة، وهو الهجوم المماثل الـ24 خلال أقل من 6 أشهر
وسبق أن أعلنت وزارة الحرب الأمريكية أن قواتها ستنسحب من “قاعدة القائم” خلال أسابيع، بالإضافة إلى قاعدتين عسكريتين أخريين في العراق
