The Algerian government announced that the Military Council in Niger accepted the mediation of Algeria in order to reach a political solution for ruling after the deposition of Bāzūm within the framework of the initiative of Algerian President ‘Abd al-Mağīd Tabbūn

The Algerian government announced that Niger had accepted the current Algerian mediation to come up with a political solution to the matter of rule in the country after the deposition of former President Bāzūm last month within the initiative presented by Algerian President ‘Abd al-Mağīd Tabbūn.
The Foreign Ministry stated that “accepting this initiative on its own strengthens the choice of a political solution” to the situation in Niger and “opens space for having the necessary conditions that enable ending the crisis in a peaceful way preserving the interests of Niger and the whole region”.
Tabbūn has appointed Foreign Minister Aḥmad ‘Aṭṭāf to go to Niamey as soon as possible to start preparatory negotiations with all parties involved about the ways to activate this Algerian initiative.
The Military Council in Niger hasn’t reached in any way to the Algerian announcement.
Algerian has many times warned against any military reaction to the crisis in neighboring Niger after the Presidential Guards took power and formed the Military Council in July.
At the end of August, Algerian Foreign Minister Aḥmad ‘Aṭṭāf revealed an initiative presented by President Tabbūn “for a political solution to the crisis in Niger containing six points” after Niger entered into a political, constitutional, and institutional crisis. The initiative proposed to give priority to the political solution and exclude the use of force”.
‘Aṭṭāf revealed that “Algeria has many times talked to the military leaders in Niger and proposed an initiative to bring the country back to the natural constitutional order”.
Algeria said that it will propose guarantees for all parties of the crisis and that it will host a development conference in the Sahel region, but has not presented details”.

أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الجزائرية عن قبول النيجر، للوساطة الجزائرية الرامية إلى بلورة حل سياسي لقضية الحكم في البلاد، بعد الإطاحة بالرئيس السابق بازوم في شهر تموز/يوليو الفائت، في إطار المبادرة التي تقدّم بها الرئيس الجزائري عبد المجيد تبون.
وعدّت الخارجية أنّ “القبول بهذه المبادرة، من شأنه تعزيز خيار الحلّ السياسي” للوضع في النيجر، و”فتح المجال أمام توفير الشروط الضرورية التي تسهّل إنهاء الأزمة بالطرق السلمية، بما يحفظ مصلحة النيجر والمنطقة برمّتها”.
وكلّف تبّون وزير الشؤون الخارجية أحمد عطاف، بالتوجّه إلى نيامي في أقرب وقت ممكن، للشروع في مناقشات تحضيرية، مع كلّ الأطراف المعنية حول سبل تفعيل المبادرة الجزائرية.
ولم يُدلِ المجلس العسكري في النيجر بأيّ تعليقات حتى الآن على الإعلان الجزائري.
وحذّرت الجزائر مراراً من أي ردّ عسكري على الأزمة في النيجر المجاورة، بعد استلام الحرس الرئاسي للسلطة، وتشكيله مجلساً عسكرياً في تموز/يوليو الماضي.
وفي نهاية آب/أغسطس الفائت، كشف وزير الخارجية الجزائري، أحمد عطاف، عن مبادرة قدّمها الرئيس تبون “للحل السياسي للأزمة في النيجر،ـ تضمنت ستَّ نقاط”، بعد دخول النيجر أزمةً، سياسية ودستورية ومؤسساتية، مقترحاً في المبادرة إعطاء الأولوية للحل السياسي، واستبعاد اللجوء إلى القوة”.
وكشف عطاف أن “الجزائر تحدثت عدة مرات مع القادة العسكريين في النيجر واقترحت، المبادرة لإعادة البلاد إلى النظام الدستوري الطبيعي”.
وقالت الجزائر إنها ستقترح ضمانات لجميع أطراف الأزمة، وستستضيف مؤتمراً عن التنمية في منطقة الساحل، لكنها لم تخض في تفاصيل
