The Reuters news agency cites two sources close to Sudanese Prime Minister ‘Abd Allah Ḥamdūk saying that he intends to hand in his resignation in the coming hours and he is adamant about this.
The Reuters agency said that two sources close to Prime Minister ‘Abd Allah Ḥamdūk reported today, on Tuesday that he “informed a group of national and academic personnel who met with him that he aims to hand in his resignation from his post”.
The two sources of Reuters added that “the group called upon Ḥamdūk to retract from his decision, yet he confirmed his determination to take this step within the upcoming few hours”.
Two days ago the Agance France Press reported that the Sudanese police fired teargas against the protesters close to the Republican Palace. The security forces closed down most of the bridges in Khartoum from Saturday midnight.
Before that came the statements by Sudanese Prime Minister ‘Abd Allah Ḥamdūk in which he said that “the stability and the unity of the country is in danger”, calling for “standing up together for the political charter to defend the future of Sudan”.
Around a month ago an agreement was reached in Sudan between the army represented in the Sovereignty Council on the one hand and between the politicians represented by Prime Minister ‘Abd Allah Ḥamdūk on the other, ruling the reassertion of ‘Abd Allah Ḥamdūk to his position as Prime Minister. At that time there were talks that Ḥamdūk will form a technocratic government and all political detainees will be released”.

قالت وكالة “رويترز” بأنَّ مصدرين مقرّبين من رئيس الوزراء السوداني، عبد الله حمدوك، أفاداها اليوم الثلاثاء بأنَّ الأخير “أبلغ مجموعةً من الشخصيات القومية والمفكرين، الذين اجتمعوا معه، بأنَّه يعتزم التقدم باستقالته من منصبه”.
وأضاف المصدران لـ”رويترز” بأنَّ “المجموعة دعت حمدوك للعدول عن قراره، إلا أنَّه أكَّد إصراره على اتّخاذ هذه الخطوة خلال الساعات القادمة”.
وأول أمس، أفادت وكالة فرانس برس بإطلاق الشرطة السودانية الغاز المسيل للدموع على المتظاهرين قرب القصر الجمهوري. وأعلنت قوات الأمن إغلاق معظم الجسور في الخرطوم اعتباراً من منتصف ليل السبت الماضي.
وسبق ذلك، تصريحاتٌ لرئيس الوزراء السوداني، عبد الله حمدوك، قال فيها إنَّ “استقرار بلاده ووحدتها في خطر”، داعياً إلى “التوافق على ميثاقٍ سياسيٍّ لحماية مستقبل السودان”.
وقبل نحو شهر، تمَّ التوصّل إلى اتفاق في السودان بين العسكر ممثَّلين بمجلس السيادة من جهة، وبين السياسيين ممثَّلين برئيس الوزراء عبد الله حمدوك من جهة أخرى، قضى بإعادة عبد الله حمدوك إلى منصب رئيس الوزراء. وتم الحديث في حينها عن أنَّ حمدوك “سيشكل حكومة كفاءات وسيتم إطلاق سراح جميع المعتقلين السياسيين
