The spokesman of the “Ṭālebān” Movement says that Barādar arrived with a high ranking delegation “today afternoon to his beloved country”, returning from Qatar.
The deputy leader of the “Ṭālebān” Movement Mullā ‘Abd al-Ġanī Barādar today on Tuesday arrived to Kandahar, the former capital of the “Ṭālebān” Movement two days after the movement he took part in founding took over the country.
The spokesman of the “Ṭālebān” Movement said that Barādar arrived with a high ranking delegation “today afternoon to his beloved country” returning from Qatar.
Who is ‘Abd al-Ġanī Barādar?
‘Abd al-Ġanī Barādar born in Uruzgan province and grew up in Kandahar is one of the founders of “Ṭālebān” Movement with Mullā ‘Umar, who passed away in 2013, but that was not announced for two years.
In 2001 after the American intervention and the fall of the “Ṭālebān” regime it was claimed that he was within a small group of rebels willing to commit to an agreement recognizing the administration in Kabul, but this initiative led to a failure.
Barādar was the military leader of the “Ṭālebān” when he was arrested in 2010 in Karachi in Pakistan. He was released in 2018 by pressure from Washington.
Barādar gained the respect of the different factions of the “Ṭālebān” to which he belongs and was later appointed as the leader of its political office in Qatar.
Barādar led the negotiations with the Americans which led to the withdrawal of the foreign troops from Afghanistan. Then he led the peace negotiations with the Afghan government, which haven’t yielded any result.
It should be remembered that this is the first time a high ranking leader of the “Ṭālebān” Movement officially returns to Afghanistan since the movement was deposed by the coalitions led by the United States following the 2001 September 11 attacks.
In a short sum of the recent events the fighters of the “Ṭālebān” Movement on Sunday entered the Afghan capital Kabul without a fight promising to grant security to all those worked with the former Afghan administration.
An official in the “Ṭālebān” Movement said that the movement will soon proclaim the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from the presidential palace in the capital Kabul.
The “Ṭālebān” started to expand the areas under its control in Afghanistan since May at the same time as the last phase of the American forces’ withdrawal begun.

وصل نائب زعيم “طالبان” الملا عبد الغني برادر، اليوم الثلاثاء، إلى قندهار، العاصمة السابقة لحركة “طالبان”، بعد يومين من سيطرة الحركة، التي شارك في تأسيسها، على البلاد.
وقال المتحدث باسم حركة “طالبان” إنّ برادر وصل مع وفد رفيع المستوى “بعد ظهر اليوم إلى بلدهما الحبيب”، عائدين من قطر.
من هو عبد الغني برادر؟
عبد الغني بردار، المولود في ولاية أروزغان، والذي نشأ في قندهار، هو أحد مؤسسي حركة “طالبان” مع الملا عمر، الذي توفي عام 2013، لكن لم يعلن عن ذلك لمدة عامين.
في عام 2001، بعد التدخل الأميركي وسقوط نظام “طالبان”، زعم أنّه كان ضمن مجموعة صغيرة من المتمردين المستعدين للتوصل إلى اتفاق يعترفون فيه بإدارة كابول، لكن هذه المبادرة باءت بالفشل.
وكان برادر القائد العسكري لـ”طالبان” عندما اعتُقل في عام 2010 في كراتشي في باكستان، وأُطلق سراحه عام 2018 بضغط من واشنطن.
يحظى برادر باحترام مختلف فصائل “طالبان” التي تصغي إليه، وتم تعيينه لاحقا رئيساً لمكتبها السياسي في قطر.
قاد برادر المفاوضات مع الأميركيين، والتي أدت إلى انسحاب القوات الأجنبية من أفغانستان، ثم أدار محادثات السلام مع الحكومة الأفغانية، والتي لم تأتِ بنتيجة.
يُذكر أنّ هذه هي المرة الأولى التي يعود فيها زعيم كبير في حركة “طالبان” علناً إلى أفغانستان، منذ أن أطاح الحركةَ تحالفٌ تقوده الولايات المتحدة في أعقاب هجمات 11 أيلول/سبتمبر 2001.
وفي خلاصة الأحداث الأخيرة، دخل مقاتلو حركة “طالبان”، يوم الأحد، العاصمة الأفغانية كابول من دون قتال، متعهّدين توفير الأمان لجميع العاملين مع الإدارة الأفغانية السابقة.
وقال مسؤول في حركة “طالبان” إنّ الحركة ستعلن قريباً إمارة أفغانستان الإسلامية من القصر الرئاسي في العاصمة كابول.
وبدأت “طالبان”، منذ أيار/مايو الماضي، توسيع رقعة نفوذها في أفغانستان، تزامناً مع بدء المرحلة الأخيرة من انسحاب القوات الأميركية.
