The Iraqi Presidential Office denied knowing about, or approving the decision “to designate the Anṣār Allah and the Lebanese Ḥizb Allah as terrorist groups”.

In a statement the Iraqi Presidential Office confirmed that “these decisions were not sent to the Presidency, only those laws are sent to it for consideration and approval that the Parliament is voting on”.

It explained that “the government’s decisions and the decisions of the terrorist assets freezing commission, or any instructions by any side are not sent to the Presidency”.

It added: “We have not deliberate on a decision to decree Anṣār Allah and Ḥizb Allah as terrorist groups and to freeze their assets, and we had only had information about this from the media”.

The office of Iraqi Prime Minister Muḥammad Šayyā‘ as-Sūdānī had announced on Thursday that what was presented in the decision of the “terrorist asset freezing” commission in its text reflected unrealistic positions, confirming that the Prime Minister ordered conducting an immediate investigation and to name those responsible for the mistake present in the commission’s decision.

The statement of the office added that the position of Iraq about freezing the assets based on the request of Malaysia was restricted to entities and individuals linked to the two organizations, “Dā‘iš” and “al-Qā‘ida”.

نفت رئاسة الجمهورية العراقية علمها أو تصديقها على قرار “اعتبار أنصار الله وحزب الله اللبناني. جماعة إرهابية”. 

وأكدت الرئاسة العراقية، في بيان، أن “هذه القرارات لا ترسل إلى الرئاسة، بل. تُرسَل إليها للتدقيق والمصادقة القوانين التي يصوت عليها البرلمان”.

وأوضحت أن “قرارات الحكومة وقرارات لجنة تجميد أموال الإرهابيين. والتعليمات الصادرة عن أي جهة لا ترسل إلى الرئاسة

وأضافت: “لم نطلع على قرار اعتبار أنصار الله وحزب الله جماعة. إرهابية وتجميد أموالهم أو نعلم به إلا من خلال وسائل التواصل

وكان مكتب رئيس الوزراء العراقي، محمد شياع السوداني، قد أعلن أمس. الخميس، أنّ ما ورد في قرار لجنة “تجميد أموال. الإرهابيين” من نصوصٍ عكست مواقف غير حقيقية، مؤكداً أن رئيس. الوزراء أمر بإجراء تحقيق عاجل وتحديد المسؤولية في. الخطأ الوارد بقرار اللجنة.
