The AFP agency reported the arrival of a Qatari airplane in Iran to carry five American prisoners, while at the same time $6 billion of Tehran’s funds frozen on a Qatari account transferred within a deal with Washington.
Director of the Iranian Central Bank Moḥammad Reẓā Farzīn on his behalf announced that the released Iranian money has arrived in the accounts of the set Iranian bank accounts.
Earlier on Monday official spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nāṣer Ka‘ānī had said that a prisoner exchange between Iran and the United States will take place, in addition to reimbursement of frozen money to the Iranian people.
Ka‘ānī also confirmed that the United States will release 5 Iranian prisoners held captive in its prisons, explaining that two of them will return to Iran, one will remain in a third country and the remaining two will remain by their will in the United States.
In his statements, he pointed out that the money of Iran that has been released from South Korea “will return today to the Iranian people and the Iranian government”.
The spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry revealed that “negotiations about lifting the sanctions on Iran might be taken on the margins of the UN General Assembly”, while Iranian President Ebrāhīm Ra’īsī attends the meetings of the UN General Assembly in New York.
On Tuesday economic spokesman of the Iranian government Eḥsān Hāndūzī announced the transaction of releasing the frozen Iranian assets in various countries, explaining that the operation explicitly took place in South Korea and Iraq, while another small portion was recovered from Türkiye. At that time he also pointed out that “currently there is an operation to transfer these sums by mediating states”.
The economic spokesman of the Iranian government expressed his hopes that the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the Iranian Central Bank at the end of this month will announce details on the implementation of this agreement.
It should be pointed out that the Reuters agency had reported last week that the transfer of Iranian sums to banks in Qatar in the early hours of this week shall lead up to a controlled sequence and will witness the departure of 5 dual-citizen American prisoners and an equal number of Iranian prisoners in custody in America.
It should also be mentioned that the United States of America and Iran last month reached an agreement on releasing prisoners in both countries, in addition to this, the freeze of Iranian assets in South Korea shall also be canceled.
The Reuters agency had reported on 10 September details on the prisoner exchange deal between Iran and the United States, pointing out that the negotiations took 8 indirect rounds since March 2022 hosted by Qatar.

أفادت وكالة “أ ف ب”، بوصول طائرة قطرية إلى إيران لنقل السجناء الأميركيين الخمسة، بالتزامن مع نقل 6 مليارات دولار من أصول طهران المجمّدة إلى حساب في قطر ضمن الاتفاق مع واشنطن.
رئيس البنك المركزي الإيراني محمد رضا فرزين من جهته أعلن رسمياً عن وصول الأموال الإيرانية المفرج عنها إلى حسابات بنكية إيرانية محددة.
وفي وقت سابق من اليوم، قال المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية، ناصر كنعاني، إنه سيتم تبادل السجناء بين إيران والولايات المتحدة، إضافةً إلى استعادة الأموال المفرج عنها إلى الشعب الإيراني.
وأكّد كنعاني، أنّ الولايات المتحدة ستفرج اليوم عن 5 سجناء إيرانيين معتقلين في سجونها، موضحاً أنّ اثنين منهم سيعودان إلى إيران، وآخر سينتقل إلى بلدٍ ثالث، فيما سيبقى اثنان من السجناء في الولايات المتحدة حسب رغبتهما.
وأشار في تصريحاته إلى أنّ أموال إيران المُفرج عنها من كوريا الجنوبية، “ستعود اليوم إلى الشعب الإيراني والحكومة الإيرانية”.
كما كشف المتحدث باسم الخارجية الإيرانية أنّه “من الممكن أن تُعقد محادثات بشأن مفاوضات رفع العقوبات عن إيران، على هامش اجتماع الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة”، وذلك أثناء حضور الرئيس الإيراني، إبراهيم رئيسي، لاجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك.
والثلاثاء، أعلن المتحدث الاقتصادي للحكومة الإيرانية إحسان خاندوزي، الانتهاء من عملية الإفراج عن الأموال الإيرانية المحتجزة في دول مختلفة، موضحاً أنّ العملية انتهت تحديداً في كوريا الجنوبية والعراق، إضافةً إلى إتمام جزءٍ صغير منها في تركيا، كما أشار حينها إلى أنّه “تجري حالياً عملية نقل الأموال عبر الدول الوسيطة”.
وأعرب المتحدث الاقتصادي للحكومة الإيرانية عن أمله أن تعلن وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية والبنك المركزي الإيراني، في الأسبوع الأخير من الشهر الجاري، تفاصيل تنفيذ هذا الاتفاق.
يشار إلى أنّ وكالة “رويترز” أفادت، الأسبوع الماضي، بأنّ تحويل الأموال الإيرانية إلى البنوك في قطر في وقت مبكّر من هذا الأسبوع سيؤدي إلى تسلسل مصمَّم بعناية، سيشهد مغادرة 5 مواطنين أميركيين مزدوجي الجنسية، وعدد مماثل من السجناء الإيرانيين المحتجزين في أميركا.
ويُذكر أنّ الولايات المتحدة الأميركية وإيران، توصّلتا الشهر الماضي إلى اتفاقٍ يقضي بإطلاق سراح سجناء من كِلا البلدين، بالإضافة إلى إلغاء تجميد أموالٍ إيرانية محتجَزة في كوريا الجنوبية.
