The “Al-Monitor” confirms that any step taken by aš-Šar‘a towards dealing with the Israeli Occupation “will ignite widespread controversy in Syria”.
The website pointed out what American Congressman Marlin Stutzman ways saying, who has recently met with aš-Šar‘a in Damascus, stating that the Syrian president informed him that “he will be completely open” to normalization with the Israeli Occupation “if the conditions are available”.
The website also described the current Syrian authorities detaining leaders of the Sarāyā al-Quds, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad as “a good will initiative”.
In this context the Al-Monitor explains that cracking down on the Palestinian activists as “one of the conditions laid down by the American administration to lift the sanctions” against Syria, when “it does not set the conditions that a dialogue, or setting up relations with Israel is a must”.
The website cited leading colleague and the Director of the Syria Initiative at the Middle East Institute Charles Leister that aš-Šar‘a and his foreign minister As‘ad aš-Šaybānī “are playing a little here”, as they are giving the most they are aiming to achieve to appease their public without exaggeration in the statements and to present that they are about to do something they haven’t done”.
Leister believed that “it is the interest of aš-Šar‘a to at least show himself ready for the dialogue until the conditions are right for the normalization”, adding that “the main challenge any transitional Syrian government will face is the consensus between the defense of the sovereignty by legal channels and to prevent falling into the trap of Israel, which is a response to any of its aggressive actions”.
“Floating a possible normalization is to attract the attention of Trump”
The Al-Monitor also pointed out that American President Donald Trump has looked into enlarging the scope of the normalization agreements that represents “his most significant foreign policy achievement during his first presidency”, pointing out that Trump said to journalists on Thursday that “we will work on continuing the Abraham Accords”.
Also that time that the participation of Saudi Arabia in it is “the main price”, as the website described it “would pave the way for other countries to follow suit and the Trump administration is looking for other Arab and Islamic countries described as possible targets for the normalization”.
In this context the main non-resident fellow of the American “Atlantic Council” think tank Tom Warrick that “aš-Šar‘a must be aware that floating a possible normalization with Israel is one of the ways to attract the attention of Trump”.

“المونيتر” يؤكد أنّ أيّ خطوة يتّخذها الشرع نحو التعامل مع الاحتلال “ستثير جدلاً واسعاً في. سوريا”، فلماذا “يلمّح إلى علاقات مع إسرائيل”؟

أكد موقع “المونيتر” أنّ أي خطوة يتّخذها رئيس المرحلة الانتقالية في سوريا، أحمد الشرع، نحو التعامل. مع الاحتلال الإسرائيلي “ستثير جدلاً واسعاً في سوريا”.
وأشار الموقع إلى ما قاله عضو الكونغرس الأميركي، مارلين ستوتزمان، الذي التقى الشرع مؤخراً في. دمشق، ومفاده أنّ الرئيس السوري أخبره أنّه “سيكون منفتحاً تماماً” على التطبيع مع. الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، “إذا توفّرت الشروط”.
كما وصف الموقع قيام السلطات السورية الحالية باعتقال قياديين في سرايا القدس، الجناح. العسكري لحركة الجهاد الإسلامي الفلسطينية، بأنّه “بادرة حسن نيّة”.
وفي هذا السياق، أوضح “المونيتور” أنّ قمع النشطاء الفلسطينين هو “من الشروط التي. وضعتها الإدارة الأميركية لرفع العقوبات” عن سوريا، في حين “لا تشترط الالتزام بالحوار أو إقامة علاقات مع إسرائيل”.
ونقل الموقع عن الزميل البارز ورئيس مبادرة سوريا في معهد الشرق الأوسط، تشارلز ليستر، أنّ. الشرع ووزير خارجيته، أسعد الشيباني، “يلعبان لعبةً هنا قليلاً، حيث يقدّمان أقصى ما في. وسعهما ليرضيا جمهورهما، من دون المبالغة في التصريحات والإيحاء بأنّهما على وشك القيام بشيء لم يفعلاه”.
ورأى ليستر أنّه “من مصلحة الشرع أن يُظهر على الأقل استعداده للحوار، إلى حين توفّر الشروط الملائمة. للتطبيع”، مضيفاً أنّ “التحدّي الرئيس الذي ستواجهه أي حكومة سورية انتقالية هو التوفيق بين الدفاع عن. سيادتها، عبر القنوات الشرعية، وتجنّب الوقوع في فخ إسرائيل، وهو الردّ على أيّ من أعمالها العدوانية”.
“الترويج لتطبيع محتمل يجذب انتباه ترامب“
المونيتور” أشار أيضاً إلى تطلّع الرئيس الأميركي، دونالد ترامب، إلى توسيع نطاق اتفاقيات. التطبيع، التي تمثّل “الإنجاز الأبرز في السياسة الخارجية، خلال ولايته الأولى”، لافتاً إلى أنّ ترامب قال. للصحافيين الخميس “إنّنا سنعمل على استكمال اتفاقيات أبراهام”.
وفي حين أنّ إشراك السعودية في ذلك هو “الجائزة الكبرى”، كما وصفه الموقع، وهو “ما يمهّد. الطريق أمام دول أخرى لتحذو حذوها، فإنّ إدارة ترامب تنظر أيضاً إلى دول أخرى في. العالم العربي والإسلامي، بوصفها أهدافاً محتملةً للتطبيع”.
في هذا الإطار، رأى. الزميل الأول غير المقيم في مركز الفكر الأميركي “Atlantic Council”، توم واريك، أنّ “على الشرع أن يدرك أنّ الترويج لتطبيع محتمل مع. إسرائيل هو إحدى الطرق لجذب انتباه ترامب”.
